    Question regarding the "NA" keeper:

What dictates that a player can be designated as an "NA" keeper?
*Does player have to be in that slot when our regular season ends? playoff season ends? when Yahoo closes down?
*Does player have to be "tagged" as "NA" in Yahoo when our season ends? (Some players get a game or two at end of NHL season - and would lose that "NA" tag, per Yahoo. ex. Clayton Keller a few years ago played in April)
*Does player have to have be tagged as "NA" in Yahoo when it re-opens (late-August)?

I sort of had a strategy to have Carter Hart be kept in my "NA" spot so that he could be my "NA" keeper... then realized that maybe I should ask...
Kind of hard to manage a team anyways when Yahoo! keeps saying "nuh-unh, can't do that... playerX is in a spot that he no longer qualifies!!!" LOL.

(btw - sorry on not returning recent trade proposals... last 2 workdays were complete shit and the engineering world didn't stop to let me breathe...)

In previous years it has been necessitated that the player was listed as NA on the last day of the NHL season (at least I think that was the day we used), and there was a maximum NHL games at around a full season just so if you have a guy go home for the birth of a kid and gets NA status, he can't be kept in the last round.
The plyer does not have to be NA when yahoo reopens.

^OK. Hopefully comish (DD) will confirm as well.
The rule kind of makes sense... but I can project some unfortunate changes that could screw a GM from keeping his guy.

For example, right now I've got Martin Necas projected as my "NA" keeper.
He's played 7gp for Carolina, and I assume they don't want to burn a year of his RFA eligibility by playing him in 10gp.
But... he's in the AHL, so they could bring him up for the final 2gp... say - late April.
If that happens, he loses his "NA" tag... and I'm out a "NA" keeper, just by bad luck - unless we can still make transactions in April. (?!)

That’s right. In the past the player had to be listed as NA by Yahoo on the last day on the FANTASY regular season - heading into the fantasy playoffs in order to be kept as a prospect keeper. And as mentioned, if Pietrangelo has another set of triplets on the last day of fantasy regular season and is listed as NA, he will not be aloud as a bonus keeper. Player must be a prospect. For game limits myself and EB came up with maximum 100 games played for a skater and 50 games for a goalie.

I couldn't remember if it was fantasy regular season or NHL regular season. Makes sense though

That is why I made it the end of the fantasy regular season, to avoid this problem. Sorry for the confusion. Last season I posted a message in the league board with full NA keeper rules but didn’t bother this season because I didn’t anticipate any new managers.

    Solid, thanks DD.
    Nice and clear.
So... last regular season week (Week20) ends on March 3rd.

    March 3rd.
If the guy is tagged AND in the "NA" slot on March 3rd, then he can be kept as "NA".

I'd assume that the "NA"-keeper player must also remain on the team's roster (in some capacity) through end of playoff season.
Like... I can't just drop Necas on March 4th and still claim him as my "NA" keeper next year, right?
    True?

That’s right. He has to remain on your roster heading into next season’s draft. I posted the full rules in the league message board on yahoo.
