Everyone please welcome JX3H to the league. Some of you will recognize him from this season’s Dobber Baseball League. He will be taking over tomastop’s Healthy Crotches.

Can you expand a bit on how you know JX3H and Arnie's Army? (i.e. Do you know them personally? If so, how, for how long, etc.)
This is the 2nd time a replacement owner has been brought into the league without (to my knowledge) a general discussion.
While this may be at commissioner's best intentions, it is not always clear if it is with the league's/other owners best interests.
Typically I discuss openings in my leagues with all the other GMs before bringing in somebody new.

    Thank you.

I don’t know either of them personally. I know Arnie’s Army from a past league and twitter. He was brought on because he is a fantasy hockey fanatic. JX3H I know from the Dobber Baseball League. I also joined a league with him this season in which he is commissioner. He is dedicated to fantasy which is why I brought him on. Every year when I do roll call I anticipate at least one manager to not want to return so I always like to try and have someone interested in the league on stand by to avoid a search for a new manager. Remember you were brought on the same way with no league discussion. I don’t feel like I need to burden the other managers with finding a replacement as I am the commissioner and it should fall on my shoulders.

Well, Gabe (4T2) was the one that asked me - which suggests you opened it up to some (all?) league GMs to help you find somebody.
Unless Gabe can read minds... there was certainly some discussion.

I've been in (too) many leagues where the commissioner invites people that (only) they are personally connected to.
Whether intentional or not, GMs that know each other are more likely to make "buddy-trades" or "buddy managements", especially when they've given up on the season (or their playoffs).
I'd prefer not to see that happen (again).

I'm not burdened by being asked on my input for prospective replacement GMs.
I doubt others in the league would feel burdened either. Feel free to ask us!!!

    Thanks for the reply.

The reason 4T2 recruited you (I thought it was Eskimo Brother but that is besides the point) is because about 2 hours before the draft we had a manager bail on us so I was scrambling to find someone. I posted it in the yahoo group chat and asked for help.

I totally understand the concern of collusion but I can assure you that is not my intention. I’ve put in too much of my own spare time to run this league. I wouldn’t throw it all away to get a “buddy-trade”.

I also don’t expect there to be too much turnover from here on. When I first created this league 4 years ago I pretty much filled it on a first come first serve basis which I realize now was a mistake. I’m pretty confident we have 12 committed managers so I’m hoping we can have this group together for the foreseeable future.

If there is a time where I need to seek a replacement I’ll be sure to ask. Just for the record, I have asked in the past but found myself finding the replacements anyways. As I said, I feel as it is the commissioner’s duty.

4 years? Wow... I don't recall.. was I in the inaugural draft or was I a replacement. Serious question cause I don't recall (and clearly i'm in too many pools at the moment).

I think I recall being recruited from the very start, but I don't recall Alex (Eskimo Brother) harping on me for 3 years to get Josi.

    lol.

If you are interested I will keep that in mind. I don’t anticipate any of our managers bailing anytime soon as we have a solid group of guys involved but anything can happen. It’s nice to have a guy on “stand-by” in the case of an opened spot in-season.
