Default Old Friend Brendan Ross's Mock Draft (Twitter)

I'll attempt to update when I see them, but he said he'll be doing it over the week

    https://twitter.com/RossyYoungblood?...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Let's kick off the #RYMockDraft! As mentioned earlier, I will post picks throughout the week leading up to the #NHLDraft on Friday! Enjoy
1st - TOR Auston Matthews - Laine gets considered briefly but Matthews offers up complete package as franchise piece at centre

2nd - WPG Patrik Laine - Jets draft strong each yr but this takes no effort. PL is the best scorer in the class. Elite talent

3rd - CBJ Jesse Puljujarvi - I think the pick could be traded but JP is the player who'll be taken 3rd. Outstanding value @ 3

4th EDM Matt Tkachuk - Oilers could deal this pick but fully expect MT to be taken if kept.Offers up rare pkg of pwr, grit & smarts #impact

5th VAN Pierre Luc Dubois -Hunch thinks 'Nucks could go off board w/ L.Brown or Keller but PLD offers up best overall package

6th CGY Alex Nylander - Flames could go several directions but AN will entice with his natural skill & ability to flank skill

7th ARI Olli Juolevi - Flush with prospect depth, 'Yotes add an efficient/intelligent puck mover with upside. Shades of OEL

8th BUF Jakob Chychrun - Expect the Sabres to add player with big upside and JC has room to improve after avg draft year. Future leader

9th MTL Logan Brown -Massive sized skilled C...excellent value...love his upside. Watch out if he learns to shoot more.

10th COL Mikhail Sergachev - easy selection for the Avs looking to rebuild their blue line. Elite BL mobility...creative puck mover. Big fan

11th NJD - Clayton Keller - Top 5 skill set would be excellent value here. Adds a dynamic punch to a rather bland prospect grp

12th - Michael McLeod - Sens jump on the speedy McLeod. Shown good progression each year of development. Good skill level too

The top six looks same as every mock I've seen. Olli, Chych, Sergachev also seem to be showing up in most 7-10 spots.
I suppose it's the forwards in play in the top 12 that will be most interesting.

Reminder to self, need to set up the Entry Draft contest.
    Will go do that now.

    Continued...

13th CAR - Tyson Jost - 'Canes add a hungry offensive talent who anticipates the game as well as any forward in the draft.

14th BOS - Charlie McAvoy - Playing next door at BU, McAvoy will help fill a growing void on the B's BL. Confident & assertive two-way Dman

15th MIN - Max Jones - intense is an understatement, MJ is as hungry as they come. High level shooter who plays on the edge

16th DET - Dante Fabbro - scooping up BPA, DET thrilled with this Hi IQ/efficient distributor. Calculated approach radiates through lineup

17th NSH Jake Bean -Preds go with best defender available & (if) Bean's there, he'll be a great get. Undrafted WHL stud D will be a good pro

18th PHI Kieffer Bellows - Scoring instincts are outstanding...great bloodlines....pumped out goals consistently this year

19th NYI - Luke Kunin - deceptively skilled & knows how to get it done offensively. Really like his shift-to-shift impact. Top 6 talent

20th ARI - Julien Gauthier - 'Yotes lock up best talent available in Julien Gauthier, who had an up-and-down year but owns great pro package

21st CAR - German Rubtsov - One of the draft's best two-way forwards, Rubtsov's attention to detail will translate well. Smart hockey player

22nd WPG - Riley Tufte - Deep prospect pool =luxury of drafting for upside and Tufte owns loads of it. Not a finished prospect

23rd FLA - Logan Stanley - Capable of playing alongside more skilled D, Stanley is a promising prospect who can be hard to play against

24th ANA - Rasmus Asplund - Always strong drafting from EUR, RA is a hungry offsive talent despite avg ceiling...good 2way guy

25th DAL - Libor Hajek - Stars have good WHL scouting presence, Hajek has all the tools to be a valuable pro D - mobility, size and smarts

26th WSH - Carl Grundstrom -Caps love their Euro 1st rders & CG's heavy 2way presence will clear room for future pure skill guys.Gd impact

27th TBL - Brett Howden - good plug and play pivot who'll fill a middle six role. Smart and defensively sound as well. Good NHL certainty

28th STL - Taylor Raddysh - strong, smart and effective down low....best is yet to come once he gains confidence. Blues can afford to wait

29th BOS - Boris Katchouk - intelligence dominates his game...mixes good offensive instincts with annoying grittiness. B's type of player

30th ANA - Pascal Laberge - fiesty C w/ puck hunger...somewhat erratic but it seems to help him...shoots a lot ..adding more ctrl will help
