Bismack Biyombo has opted out of his contract with the Raptors, and will test the free agent market.

I know he became hugely popular in Toronto with his playoff performance, especially against the Miami Heat, but was that more a case of Jeremy Linn-sanity (who, you say?) than Vin-sanity Carter (who had a decent career in the NBA).

He can always resign with Toronto, just as a free agent now.. He is going to get a huge pay raise..

Zorro has it right. This is purely money based. Him and the Raptors have mutual interest in Biyombo staying, but BB knows he can get paid, and he's making sure he does no matter where it is.

This happens very often in the NBA. He might leave or he might stay. He just wants and deserves more money and his current deal was considered one of the top bargains in the league.

Can't fault a guy for wanting to maximize his earnings... he definitely deserves it and would have been low-balled in Toronto since JV makes him somewhat expendable.

As much as I hate to see him go... He'll get paid a lot more elsewhere.

I bet the Raptors are regretting giving BB that 'players option' for the 2016/17 season.. They could have had one of the best bargains in the NBA locked up for another season..

JV makes like 15mill, no way am I paying 25mill-ish for the 5 spot. Unless its dirt cheap (6mill); and they know they won’t resign Derozan or Durant, Getting Bizzy is walking.

Or they trade T.Ross + Pick for like Noel or Okafor to play the 4 (Skola), then maybe they resign Biz. MAYBE.

Let Biyombo play PF. He's agile enough to do it and he's a rock defensively and on the boards. Then go fishing for a backup C.

Always a gamble though pal, could have just as easily been an anchor on the team for another year.

Having two big guys like that at your 4 and 5 generally limit your options though. Generally want a guy who has a bit of range who can spread the floor a bit at your 4.

Valanciunas can spread the floor a bit.

But not agile, fast, or even good defensively man on man (vs a quicker opponent) enough to play outside the 5 spot.

If Bizz could shoot, he’d be a 4 already. These 2 are centers only.
