IF the Canucks resign Hamhuis I could see them dangling Edler at the Draft in hopes of landing a late first.

    maybe Detroit?

Vancouver should have dangled Edler a few years ago when he was actually valuable.. I am curious to find out what they would actually get for Edler in the year 2016.. But then again, maybe at age 30, this is what Edler needs, a change of scenery..

ya hindsight. a change of scenery I think would be good for him as well. All depends on Hammer - if they resign him.
not a great crop of free agent dmen this year.
when will Chara retire? B's have a second first rounder - 28th - Carolina also has a second first rounder.

Edler, NTC, 5mill/yr cap hit till 2018-19 season, a 3mill bonus on July 1st. I doubt they trade him at the draft, maybe after so the new team doesn’t have to pony up the signing bonus.

Sure the bonus is steep, but so will be the price for signing a free agent. If they let Hamhuis walk its a mute point anyway.

who exactly are the Canucks going to put out there instead of Edler ? For all his warts the guy is top dog playing a full 3 minutes more per game than Tanev or Hamhuis. 20 points in 52GP is not too shabby neither.
The NTC pretty much sinks any thoughts of moving him, but I think a few teams would be interested in having him. The question is, does he want to go ?
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
