New Superman vs Batman movie

Frankly I had no plans to see BvS because they went and casted Ben Affleck in it, who is my own personal Kryptonite.

But I'll check out Man of Steel now, just in case I end up getting dragged to BvS against my will which sometimes happens.

I will like to remind everyone Heath Ledger when originally cast for the Joker, people hated it. Ben Affleck could be a great Batman even if the role doesn’t seem to fit the actor.

I thought it was really odd that people were bitching and moaning when they announced Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. I thought at the time that it was a masterstroke and it turned out that it was. Stark is nothing if not a extreme mixture of ego and sarcasm, two things that Downey excels at.

The Affleck thing just kills me though. It seems like a totally uninspired move, like something a studio head would come up with.

The Tony Stark character was perfect, who better to play a self-destructive, alcoholic ego maniac than Robert Downey Jr. It's one of those life imitates art where you have a douche-bag actor playing a douche-bag character on screen.

I think Affleck will be surprisingly good playing Bruce Wayne. All he needs to do to get into character is think about how his real life completely sucks and that his wife left him and is taking the kids, and that half of Hollywood hates his guts and thinks that he's a joke. If that doesn't bring out the depression, despair and self destructiveness, I don't know what will.

On a side note, I think the upcoming Suicide Squad movie is pretty much a line for line copy of the cartoon movie Assault on Arkham. If it is, then this going to also be a very good movie as well. Maybe better than B vs S.

Like every other reboot, it's a little different with the director putting a bit of their own spin on things. It's not bad but this isn't your campy Christopher Reeve type of movie, it's definitely produced for the teenagers of this generation. It's a lot better than Bryan Singer's Superman Return if that helps. I think you almost have to watch Man of Steel before you watch this, otherwise B vs S won't make sense. Best character in Man of Steel was hands down General Zod. Best character in Batman vs Superman is Wonder Woman. I'm a huge fan of this movie but I'll be honest, Civil War will probably still be a lot better of a movie that more people can enjoy and relate with. Nothing beats personal betrayal from a good friend over ideology of what's right vs wrong.

Yes, I'm more interested in Civil War myself. I find the angle of government registration of super-heroes interesting, taken in the context of the political climate that has emerged since 9/11, NSA eavesdropping, etc.

I especially find it interesting that it's Captain America who is the one balking at this idea.

In light of the amount of terrorism both domestic and foreign and the rise of radical ideology promoting this, the super hero registration is no different than the Patriot Act in the US right now. How much privacy and personal freedoms are we prepared to give up in the name of public security. This is why Captain America is balking at this, it's a slap in the face of what he stands for.

Tony Stark as RDJ is exactly the same casting style of Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool. There’s no acting involved, just saying lines. They are just playing themselves.

I mean, I'm pretty sure we've seen superman fly into space and spin around the world fast enough to turn back time. He shoots lasers out of his eyes and bullets bounce off him. He can lift buses and semis and fly around with them and throw them. He's so overpowered that he's frankly pretty boring story-wise. Batman, on the other hand, is a dude with ninja skills and some cool gadgets. An actual Batman vs Superman battle would be over in seconds, with Batman turned into a puddle of pink goo, unless you change what both of them are capable of for the sake of the story or somehow give Batman a ton of "kryptonite"; which incidentally has got to be the lamest, most contrived plot device but is necessary because he's otherwise unstoppable.

Yup it would be impossible for Batman to ever beat Superman in a fight without:
A: Superman is pulling back all his attacks and purposely trying not to hurt Batman
B: Batman has kryptonite hidden in his armor
C: Batman being supplied the kryptonite from Lex for the mutual of goal of ending Sups

In a nutshell, it continues off of Man of Steel and the destruction of most of Metropolis after the big fight between Zod and Sups. I believe Bruce Wayne blames Superman for the death of his family in that event and holds a major grudge, enough to bring Batman out of retirement. No matter how noble the cause, because Superman has the power of God, Bruce believes that if there's even a minute chance that Sups would ever turn on humans ever, then he's a threat to humanity and needs to be eliminated cause nobody should hold that much power. That's pretty much most of the plot background I believe. I think the movie is vaguely based on the old Frank Miller comic Dark Knight returns where in the future Superman fights Batman due to major differences in ideology. In the comic, Batman beats Superman cause he's smart enough to use Kryptonite as a weapon and puts Superman in his place. I think the movie will do something similar before Wonderwoman shows up to patch things up between two and then they all tag team Doomsday (cloned from Zod's corpse at Lex's lab). There I just saved most of you $20 at the theatre this weekend. Granted that this is all just a wild guess on my part so I don't really know what's going to happen in the movie.

So let me get this straight, Wonder Woman gets tag teamed by Batman and Superman? And Man of Steel? Sounds like we're talking about porn here...sorry, hard to resist...bow chicka bow wow

That has to be one of the more detailed "wild guesses" ever.

Honestly, I think one of the biggest reasons that people have reservations about Afleck playing Batman, is because of Daredevil. Personally, I like many of the things that Afleck does. Although I think it is unfair to hold Afleck solely responsible for the travesty that was Daredevil, the damage done by Dardevil was huge. There was a time when Daredevil was probably my favourite super hero, and that movie tainted my view to a level that was almost irreversible.

I also understand that there is a big difference between Murdock and Wayne, but the character is at least in the same vein. I am skeptical going in of Afleck playing Batman, not because of his acting ability or because of the way he looks, but because of the mockery that was Daredevil.
