Seinfeld for me is #1, the only one I can think of that is/was really good at standup and also able to translate the writing/delivery to scripted on screen, although he had great help. I was not old enough to fully appreciate Seinfeld when it was on but have the entire box set and watch it from time to time. It's amazing how 80%+ of the material in the show holds up 25 years later.

Also love Chris Rock, who was edgy but also had good backing/solid point. Same with CK Louis and obviously Carlin.

I loved Seinfeld too, but I credit Larry David more than Seinfeld for how well the material translated to a show. Larry David is the man.

Have you seen Louie? I think it's a perfect translation of Louis CK's on-stage comedy.

I also like Ed Byrne.

And Jason Byrne (no relation) has so much energy that when he's on, he's on. I remember seeing him live before he got big (over here at least, not sure how big he is in North America). We have an annual festival and it was during a 'Best of Irish Comedy' show, where he wasn't the main act but he was brilliant, so much so I can't even remember who was the main act. Just him.

Oh and he's not a traditional comedian but I like the ventriloquist, Jeff Duhham.

Big fan of Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg (RIP); I'm not sure why but I guess the one-liner type of comedy works for me. I also love Sarah Silverman. Dave Chapelle and Louis CK are up there, too. And I still like Steve Martin even though I think his peak was around the same time as The Jerk came out
