Default Ducks G situation down the stretch

Andersen ran with it to start the year, Gibson came up once Khudobin got traded and ran with it (with Andersen still around). Now lately it's kinda looked like a split? Anyone watch the ducks closely and can really say who's got the edge in goal? Who's gonna be the go to guy down the stretch?

I own both and its impossible to predict what Boudreau will do. He will keep you guessing all the way into the playoffs.

There is no clear no.1 in Anaheim for the foreseeable future or until an injury occurs.

Yeah I agree with glorybe23 in that you never know with BB.

Basically throw a dart at a dart board and guess until you hear who the starter is from goaliepost.com! However, right now it seems like they are alternating, so next as of right now should be Gibson(?)

Find an theoretical physicist who is an expert in chaos theory. He might have an insight. Otherwise, nobody can say for certain. Owning a Boudreau goalie leaves you at the mercy of his whims. Andersen is on a nice run lately and seems to have taken the upper hand for now. But that can change at any moment. My league has a farm system and I can stash Andersen and stream him in when he goes. So I dont mind owning him.

The goalie situation has done nothing but flip-flop constantly over the past couple years. I don't expect it to change.

Saw a tweet today about each of their last 7 games

    Andersen: 6-0-0 1.61 GAA and 0.942 Sv%
    Gibson: 4-3-0 2.93 GAA 0.893 Sv%

I don't expect either of them to maintain those numbers for the remainder of the season but its hard not to see Andersen getting more of the starts for the next couple weeks

FYI: Khudobin hasn't been traded, just demoted to the AHL affiliate.

When dealing with predicting Bruce Boudreau's fickle mind it's hard to tell but I think Andersen is the more solid of the two and he should see the bulk of starts going forward with my gut feeling backed up by the numbers blemenag pointed out.

Extending the GA stats to the last 8 starts: Gibson 23 vs Andersen 12.

Gibson was hot when Andersen struggled (and then later became ill) but lately Andersen has turned it around. I sort of saw this weeks back-to-back as an indicator of how BB thinks and when he chose Gibson against PIT it told me that he preferred Gibson but then he fell through. The numbers favour Andersen, and even Dobber himself favour Andersen, it should be a matter of time until BB do the same.

I'm sorry but I have to correct you here; Andersen wasn't struggling at the start of the year, the team in front of him was struggling. If you go look at the numbers from this year to last, he was putting up the same type of numbers (Sv%, GAA) as last year, only the wins weren't there because the team was slow out of the gate in regards to offense. They simply couldnt score and were losing close games because of this. Gibson grabbed the reigns during Andersens injury and has played well, with the exception of the past couple weeks.

Both have put up solid numbers on the season.

    You are correct Axeman33.

My mistake, didn't make it clear but was referring to the struggles in mid November. Not October - where he was one of, if not the best duck.

How does Andersen's end of the season RFA status effect all of this?

Frederik Andersen age 26 Now making $1,150,000, but will be a RFA at the end of this season.
John Gibson age 22 Now making $721,666 and is signed for the next three years at $2,300,000 before RFA.

I dont know if it affects it much. The Ducks do have cap space to re-sign Andersen but I think what is more important in all of this is whether they want to run with both he and Gibson for the next few years or are they ready to hand the reigns over to one or the other full time. Do they want to pay both of these guys or are they ready to commit. I say to one or the other because there is nothing to say that Gibson isn't the guy moved at the end of the year as well. It's all up in the air right now I'd say.
