Thanks! Ok, so it's possible. But it's also important to acknowledge the lack of depth up front that MTL and CGY possess. WSH is a different animal, they're an offensive machine. Nashville's two best offensive players just happened to be dmen, so that's justified. The Flyers are a pretty skilled team up front... so based on all of this, if we take Ghost/Provorov potentially hitting 50+ and combine them with those forwards... to me, it sounds like they could be a very Washington-esque offense in a few years, which could be exciting hockey! Except for the fact that I hate the Flyers.

Interesting point about two D-Men with 50 point upside. Add the Blues to a team that was close (Shatty / Pietrangelo). If Ghost continues to play the way he is playing, I feel he is the "main" offensive weapon on the Flyers blue line moving forward. I think the Flyers will go with 2D on PP1 and they will be Ghost / Provorov IMO. It will be interesting to see if there's enough to go around, but right now I think Ghost gets lion's share. Prior to Ghost's arrival, I believed Provorov would soon be doing kinda what Ghost is now, but I'm rethinking that a little. If anything, Ghost will be the Shattenkirk to Provorov's Pietrangelo. And I'm not quite sure where Sanheim fits in offensively to be honest.

I literally had this typed out as an example in a prior post but deleted it because I think Provorov has the talent to be the elite offensive guy. But I completely agree. At the end of the day, only one of them will be the top dog and based on how things look now and how they both seem to play, Ghost seems like the Shattenkirk to me. I don't think Sanheim will ever do much offensively other than get peripheral points from his highscoring teammates. He's definitely a great young two-way dman but there's only so many points to go around on the blue line.

This statement is flawed. If Provorov was eligible to play in the AHL this season, he likely would have started the year there and who knows which one would have got called up when Streit went down.

That doesn't make the statement flawed, that's irrelevant. If Provorov was eligible to play in the AHL they'd still likely leave him where he is because after camp they probably thought he wasn't ready for the pro game yet. It's not about eligibilty, it's about what the player can do. f he had the chops to produce now, he probably would've made the roster out of training camp. Obviously there's the business aspect of it (contracts, etc) which is certainly a factor, but I'm just trying to show how Ghost is the better player today. I think the roster situations show that. I absolutely see your point but I don't think it sheds any light on how Provorov's ability is compared to Ghost in the present. You're right that we'll never know who would get called up when Streit went down, but you have to realize that that's a decision that the brass evaluated in September, not when the injury occurred.

Anyway, that particular point I was making is getting contrived now and wasn't articulated clearly so let's not focus on that since it's not really a huge part of the discussion. Sorry for the lack of clarity in my thoughts all I'm trying to say is:

    -Both are awesome players
    -Both have awesome fantasy futures
-Last Fall, everyone and their mother would take Provorov over Ghost no question
-Today, I would take Ghost over Provorov no question

Then I guess we're going back to the 93-94 NY Rangers with Leetch-Zubov!!

    11 goals in 37.3 GP.

A good offensive defenseman would be happy with 11 goals for a season. Just for reference, everyone's darling last year (Klingberg) had 11 goals in his 65 GP... and 40 points. Ghost now has 11 goals, 32 points and we're not even halfway through his 38th game. Needless to say he's going to smoke what Klingberg did last year - he'll probably get his 40th by his 50th game.

Oh, and out of his 11 goals, 6 of them are on the PP - so he can score outside of the man-advantage.

Ghost is as close to MAB as Bobby Ryan is to Bobby Hull.

People on this BOARD are better players than MAB. He was a slap shot and nothing else - he was HORRIFIC in his own end.

    End the madness Ev!

Not sure what you mean by the Ryan/Hull comparison but amen to the Ghost/MAB comparison. Not even close imo. Gostisbehere almost has more points in 38 games of his rookie year than MAB had in any year of his career.

Meant comparing MAB to Ghost is like comparing Bobby Ryan to Bobby Hull - not in the same class.
