First, I dont think Steve Yzerman wants to deal Drouin to another Eastern team. Second, I am not sure what type of package he could put together to tempt Yzerman to trade Drouin within the same conference. One would have to think it would have to start with Galchenyuk.

according to friedman galchenyuk is available. if the habs think drouin has higher offensive upside then may be they make that swap since they have plekanec locked up a little longer. if they do consider that i hope they feel drouin could be a better C than galchenyuk as that has been their weakest position.

Galley recently getting into trouble may help this deal as well, although I agree it seems unlikely they trade within the conference unless its a home run

If Yzerman can get Galchenyuk for Drouin, I think he should take that deal, conference be damned. You would think that he should get more, but I don't know how realistic that is.

Then, after he hangs up the phone, he should punch the nearest wall for not drafting Seth Jones as he probably should have.

Drouin isn't exactly helping himself in the AHL. Only 3 points in 7 games. Probably doesn't mean much though. At least not yet.

I haven't seen any of his AHL games, but I found this tweet from sports writer Joe Yerdon earlier today. I am assuming if he's making this type of statement, he's probably been watching him play.

What I've heard via tsn montreal radio over the last couple of days....
-TB is still pushing to send Drouin to the West and not rival eastern opponents
-MTL has not been overly pleased with what's going on between Gally's ears...not his on ice product; but still possibly trade bait
-originally it was Shatts for Drouin straight up, then the deal became shatts + fabbri for JD, then TB added pieces ....the deal became too big that the GMs stepped back...but possibly will revisit soon .....
-McGuire mentioned a Beaulieu + Scherbak + pick for JD + pick would "likely" get it done....more so if he was GM i guess

why the **** would STL give up shattenkirk for drouin straight up? jones got johansen who has proven much more. $$$ is the only thing that might make some sense to me but i have a hard time believing shattenkirk couldnt pull in some proven cost-controlled assets.

i feel like a bunch of GMs are salivating at the thought of drouin mimicing the seguin situation. they want to be the next gm to pull of the steal of the decade.

LOL! I stopped waiting for a trade some time ago. Could one happen? Sure and I will be happy to read about it when it does, but until then, these guys might as well be Eklund.
