Default Anaheim goaltending: Anderson, Gibson and Khudobin

What's going on here and who do you think will be the starter, who is the back-up, what's the split of starts, and who's going down to the minors?

I'm thinking of dropping Khudobin to open up room for Palat off the IR. I have Anderson but someone else grabbed Gibson.

    Thoughts?

I'm in the same situation as you, and I'd wait to see what happens after tonight. But if you really need to drop someone now, I'd drop Khudobin.

    Khudobin is the backup.

Gibson is the only one who can be sent down to the minors (so I've heard), so he will likely be moved back down before too long for political reasons and Andersen will remain the starter; it's not like he's had a poor year, Gibson is just on a hot streak. That's how I see it shaking out until (if) Anaheim manages to move one of them.

Who are your other goalies, other than Khudobin? You say you have AndersOn (is this the Anaheim goalie or the Ottawa goalie? The one in Anaheim spells his AndersEN and the Ottawa one spells his AndersOn) but who else?

Thanks for the advice. My other goalies are:

Andersen (Anaheim), Condon (Mtl) and Nilsson (Edm). It's been a tough year.

No one really knows what goes on in Bruce Boudreau's head in regards to goalies but to the best of my knowledge, Andersen is still the starter for the Ducks for the foreseeable future. They may keep Gibson up a bit longer but eventually, he's the odd man out this year (unless a trade happens) as the season goes on. He will continue to get his starts in the AHL because he doesn't have to pass through waivers to be sent down.

As far as who to drop, I think I'd drop Khudobin only because I don't think he gets many starts either way. Once Andersen is ready, he will be starting and if he gets hurt again, they will recall Gibson and he will start.

I think Anaheim will actually carry three.
I think they'll ride Gibson for 2 starts a week until he loses both of them and somebody else emerges as HOT.

For a long time, I thought Khudobin would steal the job.
And I figured Gibson was a patch while Freddie fought off his cold/flu.
Now, I've changed my tune... I think they'll fight so hard to get a playoff spot in the West that they have to ride Gibson... for a while!

The West is so tight right now that teams are going to ride the goalie that can get them wins.
There's only a few teams in the NHL that are playing well enough (NYR, WAS, DAL) to let their back-ups play a bit more than every third week.

Unfortunately, it appears Freddie gave up a goal on 5 shots. Would have been nice if he'd pitched a clean inning.

Gibby will go down before next game UNLESS a move is made.

I think I am like a lot of people that are sure hoping that Freddie is worth our patience.

I finally cracked and traded for Luongo. I've been sitting on Andersen since he was drafted, never lost confidence.... Until now. Just a crack, but enough that I made a move.

Hopefully Freddie can come back strong, but the carousel in Anaheim is just too risky if you're contending, I think.
