Trade advice - E Kane vs. Teravainen - Points only keeper league with playoffs

I've been offered E. Kane or Teravainen for my 2016 1st rounder (likely 3rd overall) and an add/drop (limit 3 per season).

Kane seems like more points sooner, but maybe not later. Teravainen is still unproven but has high upside and is on a much better playoff team.

I'm hoping to challenge in the next 1-2 years. Team and league settings below.

I would have to drop someone, probably Pulkinnen but maybe Perreault.

Any thought on who to take?

last year around Christmast I made a trade where I received the 1st round pick of the guy who was in 5th place at this moment....

He finished last And I drafted Mcdavid

I would wait a little bit before trading a high 1st round pick.....By the end of the the year you should get more than E. Kane or Teravainen....maybe you'll be last and get Matthews.....

I'd rather take my changes with the 3rd overall pick than those two in a pts only league.

Wicked, thanks sharpp87 and gainerama. I won't end up last or second last - two tankers I wouldn't be able to out tank if I tried - but we use a lottery system so could still get 1st.

This season
E. Kane = 50 regular season points + 0 playoff points = 50 total points.
Teravainen = 40 regular season points + 5 playoff points = 45 total points.

Give or take a few points either way.

Things to consider
- E. Kane's health. He's a bandaid boy. If he can stay healthy, playing with a core of O'Reilly, Eichel, and Reinhart, then he's going to get his regular season points.

- When will Buffalo become a playoff team and he can help you there?

- Is Teravainen ever going to lock in a top 6 role? If so, when? The Blackhawks wanted him to be a C, but they went out and got, and immediately signed, Anisimov. Teravainen will either be a LW1 guy (not his natural position), or a RW3 guy (ditto a guy like Marko Dano); at least, until Hossa retires (not happening in the immediate future).

- All things considered, if this was for my team, I would feel comfortable giving Kane a 65-70 point average in this format over the next two to three seasons, and put Teravainen in for around 50-55 points.
