I'd have to think Calgary would have to add a ton more to that to get it done. I don't really know what else, but Wideman is older, more expensive, and worse.

See like to me, a sign and trade of Byfuglien for Hamonic makes the most sense. Maybe extra pieces to make salary work and such. But yea.

Well if he is sincere in his request, I can't see any problems finding a team willing to make something work with the Islanders. They obviously aren't going to give him away so it will be interesting to see what type of return they get and what team steps up.

I'd be okay with this. For Islanders games here in WPG, you always see the Hamonic family supporters, wearing Travis' Islanders jersey. They might as well be Jets jerseys, and they can see him play 41 times a year!

I am not going to assume the Islanders necessarily need a D in return. They do have some kids who are more than capable of coming up from the AHL for regular NHL duty. God knows Ryan Pulock would love a shot at the show and is more than ready for the chance.

I think if they Islanders can get the right type of skater, be it a forward or a D, they would certainly entertain it.

I don't know if I see Winnipeg as a fit. They are deep on the blue line as it is and also have some young kids who needs the chance to prove they are ready that are already in their system.

Distance from NYC to Winnipeg: 1286 miles
Distance from Vancouver to Winnipeg: 1162 miles

Going to the Canucks doesnt really get him much closer to home, other than being in Canada.

Well look at you, Mr. Google Maps and all

Jokes aside, great call on the distance; this probably limits the different teams in the West that may go after him!

Long Island isn't the Big Apple. In any event, it will be sad to see him go if it's true. He has always said he loved playing here and he's a huge fan favorite. Plays the game the right way.

Not IMO... I feel Eberle can fetch more than Hamonic. I can see Schultz ++, but not involving Eberle unless some other important piece is included on the Isles' side.

Lol. you're underselling how good Hamonic. Or overselling how good Eberle is. Either way.

My belief Oilers and Isles have had talks as far back as September on Hamonic. A defenceman who can play now is likely needed in return.
    Sooooo Klefbom or Nurse.

I'd love to see him in Edmonton but it would hurt Schultz,s value imo. I happen to be working in a trade for Schultz, maybe I'll hold off. Unless of course Schultz is in the trade.

Huh. Don't mind me. Just leaving this here.....

    Ryan Rishaug ‏@TSNRyanRishaug 6m

Have to think Nurse would be high on the list of asks from Isles, Klefbom an option too. Not sure any other Oil D gets it done.
