The lesson here is - and this one is timeless - never bet on anything involving the Leafs, good or bad. Because you change the course of time. The Leafs will do the opposite of what they would normally have done, just to screw you.

I learned this lesson a few times 20 years ago in university, and it still holds true today. Timeless.

Next time you come back to lay a bet, do it without Toronto involvement, seriously

The real lesson is any team can beat any team in the NHL on any given night. Vent terrible teams win 30'games per year

I hope you could afford to lose that 500 .I suppose depending on ones income , a 500$ bet once in awhile for someone making over 100k a year isnt going to break the bank

    You know.....for what its worth:

I used to have a problem with the stock market. Was getting the same type of high you obviously get from betting...but was getting it with stocks.
This cost me a fair bit of cash over a couple years.

Then, I discovered fantasy hockey....where I can get the same high, where instead of betting hundreds of dollars at a time, the money outlay is relatively insignificant (some pools $75, some $100)....yet bragging rights at stake. I found the same type of high and am not risking stupid money. To be honest, I couldn't care less about the money. I get far more satisfaction when one of my studs fills the roto card with points, hits, PIMs etc.

Just sayin'......stay away from the slippery slope. Find a more meaningless way to feed your addiction.

I hate to give people the "holier than thou" speeches (especially since I gamble quite a bit myself), but you should really lay off the betting dude... you have all the signs of someone who has a serious gambling problem to be honest. Only compulsive gamblers jump back in with hundred dollar bets on single games. I don't know if you're a multi millionaire, but that kind of money is no joke. I only bet that big on special events like the Superbowl and even then I feel a pang of guilt despite being able to afford it.

I'm with MD on this one... glad you lost the bet - huge blessing in disguise. I think if you won last night, you would've ended up losing a lot more in the long run.

Don't relapse. If you want to scratch the gambling itch, join some cash pools next year where the "high" is sustained over the course of a full season and your gains/losses can be measured up front... or play Proline lol

This is so true. Never, ever, ever bet on the Leafs or against the Leafs. It's pretty funny that you learned that in university. My university friends and I did too about 7 years ago.

Sportsbetting can be fun but it can be infuriating at the same time. The other week I bet on Pitt when Kess made his debut in TO but with Canadas betting laws I had to parlay.

So I parlayed that Pitt and Edm would win. Edm staged the comeback then Talbot let in the softest goal at the side of the net. I was only going to win $70 but I was mad. Ive done $100 bets before and have yet to win lol. I just bet once in awhile when I am going to watch a game to make it a little more fun to watch. If its not fun anymore then not wise to do it.

I would throw more than $100 on games probably if I didnt HAVE to parlay. Still find that a ridiculous rule
