I took Patrick Eaves with my last pick at this year's draft. I knew going into it that it was iffy at best. He was on a short leash. I thought if he could start on the top line, get some pts, I could sell high or something. But he was a healthy scratch in the first game and then got injured in the second game while not even playing with Benn and Seguin. Looks like Eakins has the job to start the year.

Anyways, looking to drop him now. I can afford 1.31M cap hit for his replacement. It doesnt have to be a winger, I would be open to picking up a Dman as well.

My league is pretty smart so most of the big name big hype cheap players are already taken (ie. teuvo, panarin, larkin, etc.).

In the free agent pool these players pop out at me:

Mark Dano (grab him and wait for him to be called up?)

Oscar Lindberg (He's just on a lucky streak right? Not sustainable I think)
JT Miller (Riding Lindberg's coat-tails, same concerns)

Chris Tierney
Jean Gabriel Pageau

Which names are most interesting and can help me this year? None of them really excite me. I think they are all bench players considering the rest of my roster so maybe I should get someone with high potential and stash him. Or maybe I sit tight and wait for Eaves to get another chance.

In a limited moves league (20max drops), its a little early for my first drop but I dont mind doing it right now.

Any names that I havent listed that you think no one has heard of for under a million?

I think Trochek and Duclair are the best options out of that group, upside and in good spots at the moment for young guys.

Definitely Trochek. I like the kid's talent and think he can put up some decent numbers this year

I would also drop Weber for Beaulieu...he gets PP time and gaining more minutes in Montreal. Grab him before he hits the breakout.

Is everybody saying Trocheck because he just scored 4 pts in a game or will he be decent and consistent throughout the season...thats what I'm wondering.

I agree with your concerns about Trochek regarding this love in this thread and his 4pt game.

Eaves is good when healthy and playing on the top line. But he was healthy scratched in the first game of the year. When he got into the lineup for second game, he was playing on the third line and went on to get himself hurt and is now on the stars IR but i havent heard a report on how serious his injury is.

Trocheck gets the love bc we expect him to be good based on hype from previous years and development. Duclair is my fist thought. The Weber suggestion is good idea. When has he ever done anything substantial and is Def. WW fodder.
