[2015] Dobber NFL Wins Pool - Official Thread

So I got an idea for a really simple and fun pool from Grantland head writer Bill Simmons. The way it works is you get a number of people between 4 and 10 (8 is the perfect number) and arrange a snake draft order. You each draft NFL teams as though they were players attempting to get the teams with the highest win total from the upcoming season. Who ever's teams combine for the most wins at the end of the season wins the pool. I've run this pool with some friends in the past and it's been a huge hit so I decided to take it to the forum.

All of last season's competitors are invited back including: myself, Doulos, Bomm Bastic, Zorro, Daydream Nation, Pengwin7, TheWhale, and Axeman33.

However, Pengwin7 had the idea that this could eventually be a tiered league so if anyone has interest in joining such a league then toss me a Private Message or just post in this thread. If enough interest is generated then a second tier could be set up. In this situation the top two teams from the lower tier would get promoted and the bottom two from the higher tier demoted after each season. Obviously the group of individuals listed above would constitute the top tier. First come, first served, right?

It's also plausible that individuals may not wish to return, in which case we may be looking for replacements so again, express your interest here.

RULES

It should be noted that ties do occasionally happen. For our purposes a tie is equivalent to a loss in that it doesn't count towards a win. I've heard it suggested that a tie should count as half a win but that's not how it works in the NFL so it's not how it will work here. However, ties will count as a tiebreaker in the event that two members finish with the same number of total wins.

The next tiebreaker is aggregate point differential for all the teams a member possesses. The member with the highest aggregate point differential wins the tiebreaker.

The final tiebreaker is number of playoff teams.

In the event none of these tiebreakers breaks the tie, we go for the classic coin flip.

Hopefully it doesn't come to any of those.

The draft will take place here in the forum. We'll go slow style, no time limits, starting ASAP. We have lots of time before the season starts and this is an online thing so we can't expect everyone to be in one place at one time. And it's only four picks each (32 total) so it really won't be that time consuming.
