and also, how would strome factor into this? i personally like marner more than strome, even in multi-cat leagues (i think his offensive potential is way higher and that makes up for the lack of peripherals) - am i wrong for thinking this way?
in multi-cat leagues, how much more valuable is marner than rantanen? i.e. how much would it be worth trading up a couple of spots, where i'd take rantanen, to get marner? no SOG or faceoffs, but include hits and blocks.

I got all 3 players you're asking about. I drafted them: Marner 3rd, Strome 4th, and Rantanen 6th. That's pretty much how I'd rank them in multi-cats. Keep in mind that Rantanen will eventually be Duchene's or McKinnon's winger while the other two will not be as insulated.

I would take Marner over both Rantanen and Strome. Obviously at this point you can only base it off of upside, but Marner has the higher upside for points.
Rantanen should be a solid player, but you can always get the hits/blocks from defencemen.

I think there could be a case made where we can flip a coin between Marner and Strome, as you have fans of both players putting one or the other ahead.
In Rantanen's case, I feel there is a distinctive drop off from the other 2, multi-cat or not.
If I had to rank them, I would go with:
Strome (even without the FOW)
Marner (very very close, but I prefer Strome slightly)
Rantanen
If you are trading up to get either Marner or Strome, I would go as far as to sacrifce the equivalent of 2 early first round picks (6-10)

I like Rantanen especially for the peripheral stats. I see him as a Landeskog type player, can contribute in every area. So in a multi cat league, I would take him over Marner
Strome
Marner
Rantanen
They're all pretty damn close; Ranty is in a peach of a situation, which should bolster his production playing with a top-tier Center. He won't be relied upon as much to shoulder the offensive load. Complementary piece, whereas the other two guys are going to be centerpieces in the next few seasons. Also, I think Rantanen is the only one who has a real shot of making the NHL club this year, so there's that too. But long-term, the above ranks are how I would peg them.
