I would say he is your 8th fw keeper. But he isn't really that great of a player.

I doubt Hertl sees any PP1 time this season barring injuries to one of Thornton, Marleau, Couture or Pavelski. Those 4 and Brent Burns will almost for sure make up the 1st PP unit. That would change if the new coach in San Jose wants to run a PP1a and a PP1b and split time evenly. I doubt any coach would do that with their lineup but you never know.

I think he has tons of offensive upside but patience on fantasy owners is key. The Sharks are an older bunch and Hertl is a key part of the future there. Too many are jumping ship too soon with him and in another couple years they will look back and regret moving him.
Short term, keep your expectations low.
Long term, he will reward you for being patient.
