    Muskies projected at 21st

    F = C

    D = C

    G = F

    Prospects = A-

    This team just isn’t ready to take a jump yet....the GM has been out fishing on Rainy Lake too much....but with a number of recent high draft picks on the roster (Kakko, Tkachuk, Glass, Puljijarvi), they could be moving up in the near future and get out of tier 4. Although no “generational” stars in the mix, they have a number of potential high impact fantasy players.

    There is also a nice collection of young supporting players in Kunin, Crouse, Greenway, Steel, and Jost who all should bolster the depth for the Muskies.

    With Fox and Theodore paying off already, the Muskies are in good shape on D currently. And if even half of their prospect D hit as viable fantasy options, they will have a very good core group.

    Simply put, goalie is a void on this team, but luckily for Mr Muskie, goalie points are not a necessity in the WHL. Georgiev just won’t get many starts with Shester in town.

    Additionally there are a number of prospects that could also develop into quality fantasy pieces moving forward.

    The fans in Fort Frances have been sold on prospects for years now....it is time to see this team start casting its way up the standings and catching the teams above them or a re-location may be on the horizon.

    Sibes projected at 20th

    F = B-

    D = C+

    G = C-

    Prospects = C

    This was a difficult team to gauge, as they have several enigmas on the roster that have a very wide range of production, which will have a big swing on the teams overall results.

    Can Johnasen return to be a high 60-low 70 point player? Can Kuz return to be a point per game player? Can Granlund return to be a 60 point player? Will Kane continue at a 100 point pace?

    Deeper into the forward group, guys like Zucker, Gurianov, and Haula will be relied upon to continue their production levels. If the above questions and the depth doesn’t hit expectations, things could get dicey for the Sibes.

    The GM has assembled an underwhelming array of D, with Ristolainen as the marquee player on the roster. More questions here similar to the forward group. Will Ristolainen take a step back as Dahlin progresses? Can Subban return to his previous levels? Can Dunn take another step or will Krug block that?

    And with not having any elite prospects in the dog house, the Sibes GM could in the hot seat very soon, however if some of the prospects such as Bokk, Brink, Trenin, Lapierre can achieve success at the NHL level, then the hot seat may get a bit cooler for this GM.

    Red Lights projected at 19th

    F = B

    D = D

    G = F

    Prospects = B

    The forward group is set up nicely with higher end scoring with Barzal, Aho, Guentzel, Duchene and future Hall of Famer Sid the Kid.

    The D is sparse and is in desperate need of an overhaul. Girard, Andersson, and Fabbro will need to all take a big step forward for this team to have a chance to climb up out of tier 4. If they don’t, there is little help elsewhere as Skjel and Myers bring little to the fantasy landscape.

    Martin Jones provides little fantasy value, especially with a proven starter like Dubnyk now prowling in the waters.

    The GM has built a nice depth within his junior roster. Kaliyev, Sanderson, Holtz will lead the way for the junior red lights and all three could be with the big club in the very near future.

    The fans should expect to see a lot of red lights at both ends of the ice with this pro roster this season, but there is some excitement coming.

    Polar Bears projected at 18th

    F = B

    D = F

    G = A+

    Prospects = C

    Our celebrity GM comes in at 18th with a roster that could finish much higher than this projection.

    While no elite stars, there is excellent forward depth in Tampere and only 1 forward over 32, this depth will be key for many seasons to come.

    Let’s just not talk about the D....

    The goalies really couldn’t be better with two top tier goalies in Rask + Price, with Samsonov ready to be another top tier goalie in the polar bears den.

    Our famous GM is desperate to see Drysdale and Heinola get out of junior and into the Pros to bolster the blue line, Bear should also be an upgrade on D this season.

    The GM has time to find prospect forwards, as the only current notable forward prospect being Denisenko.

    If the ice breaks in the right way for the polar bears, I could see this team jump several spots higher but they will need their young D to step in and have an impact earlier than expected for that to happen.

    Waxers projected at 17th

    F = B+

    D = C-

    G = C

    Prospects = B

    One of the most active GMs comes in at 17, despite quite a valiant effort to go from pretender to contender in one off-season.

    The Waxers GM sought out mostly aging, high salary players and was able to get them at great value prices to get instantly competitive and will get out of the bottom dweller tier.

    Adding guys such as over 30 players Jamie Benn and John Tavares, as well as landing Rantanen tied up 30 million in 3 players but will get productive players for many years.

    Additionally bringing in the likes of older players Brown, Goligoski, Neal, Leddy, Stepan, Brodie, Kessel changed the look of the franchise.

    Turning Thomas + pro pick #2 into Pageau, who was then flipped in a deal for JT was a brilliant execution of asset management upgrades.

    Similarly flipping depth prospects plus a journeyman D for Kessel, who was then flipped for recent first round pick Bourque was another shrewd series of moves.

    The D is lacklustre at best....but there is little doubt this GM will find a way to improve this area.

    Prospect pool that includes Raymond, Ishkakov, Foudy, Farabee, Turcotte, Bourque and Zary will bring in some youth in short order and is among the best prospect pools in the league.

    Watch out as the Waxers will be hot in the very near future.

    Ducks projected at 16th

    F = C+

    D = C

    G = A-

    Prospects = C+

    These ducks are not very mighty.

    It looks to be a long season at the duck pond....they have no elite stars yet seem to remain competitive riding the duck wings of Hellebuyck and Gibson in goal and a multitude of moderate producing players.

    While none of the skaters are elite, all produce adequately which allows the ducks to keep their beak in the mix of the middle tiers with the occasional upset versus the top tier.

    The D could be very formidable in the coming years, with Sandin, Liljegren, Brannstrom, Merkley all just starting or nearing the NHL.

    This GM seems to like to collect former very high ranking prospects that have not transitioned to the NHL as expected with Ho-Sang, Tolvanen, Liljegren and Borgstrom.

    Whether this team gets out of the middle tier and into the upper will depend on those elite potential prospects producing at the NHL level, otherwise it could be more middle tier time for foreseeable future of the franchise.
