Another great article. This is by far the best fantasy league I've been a part of.
We have a very strict "social media policy" and severely limit the circle of knowledge in Grand Rapids.
There's another insider on the block. Feel free to share anything you want put out there anonymously.

Just caught up on this article. Great work. very entertaining.
And just now started to follow the insider on twitter. Looking back I can see what I was missing. (of course this required me to re-download the twitter app which I was trying to avoid).

Spitfires ownership is seriously questioning their GMs choice in depth-players after another loss.
Said Spitfire GM "We have a plan..."
Said fans "We don't like losing though..."
Said ownership "We'll make a change for you fans!"
...oh, brother, here we go...
Interview is late due to GM living off the grid....took awhile tracking him down....
Why the strict social media policy...rumour is to maintain that, your offices have no phones and no computers?
We weren't sure if any of the other teams in the WHL have government contacts, so we've decided to live off the grid at the Griffins' team office. We mainly communicate vais T9 texting and USPS. Although, with the cost of stamps increasing this weekend, we may have to embrace the new technology.
Best/worst trade/move you’ve made in WHL?
Worst - Panicked in the inaugural draft and took Petr Mrazek in the 4th round after a couple goalie runs. Definitely swayed by watchig him play in GR and hoping he'd be the next goalie for the Red Wings. There were plenty of good players still on the board.
Best - Swapped Corey Perry for Pekka Rinne before the 17-18 season. Both appeared to have significantly declined in their skills, but I desperately needed a goalie. Rinne helped carry my team to near playoff birth and one of the highest scoring teams in the WHL.
Why such attraction towards a minor league team by naming your team as such?
I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI and wanted to rep my hometown team. Considered a few junior teams in the area, but settled on the team which caused many difficult Saturday monrings following the Friday night "Dollar Beer and Hot Dog" games.
You don’t make many trades, how come?
I'm the stereotypical fantasy hockey player in leagues like this who grows too attached to his own players he drafts and watches develop. This causes me to often over value them and with every other owner in the WHL being so savvy and knowledgeable, it's tough to find deals for me. Plus, my teams is a perennial borderline playoff team. Not good enough to be at the top of the standings but also not bad enough to rebuild. Leaves me in fantasy limbo
What the heck does brakli mean?
I lurked here for about 3 or 4 years before creating an account. I didn't have anything clever other than copying my twitter handle. It's the first letters of my first and last name. Plus, I couldn't spell Kawliflowwer, Caulighlauer, Caw.....nevermind.
Past player you’d like to have a beer with & why?
Bob Probert. Laying my man card on the table for a second, I cried when I read the first chapter of his book. One of my favorite Red Wings when I was a kid. Seems like such a great guy to listen to his life....time in the NHL, struggles with addiction, findnig peace in his career role.
What is with the TMNT profile pic?
There are so many clever profile pics on this forum. But no TMNT. So, easy choice. One of my two favorite cartoons as a kid, along with Voltron. If you look closely, on Raphael's belt, the Voltron Lion Key is his belt buckle. NERD ALERT!!
What got you into fantasy hockey?
A close group of friends wanted to ind something to do together, so we started a basic Yahoo league back in 2008. This league ran for 11 years before finally folding due to family and work demands. Pretty good run for a yearly league which saw all of our lives change drastically over the course of the league. It was amazing the increased communication and connection in our lives through that league. Brought the group closer together.
If you could change one thing about the WHL what would it be?
Honestly, not much. If I were to be picky, I'd love to see the goalie points changed, as they can be so damaging with a poor game, which causes their value to be decreased. This is by far the best fantasy league I've been a part of...in any sport. Between the Insider, Bobby's 35 consecutive chat box posts, metaldude trying to acquire every first round pick in the league, Pie, Voodoo, and Havana's bantering, and Peng's goalie conundrum, it's a league full of great people. Combine this with the real life talk of jobs and family and it truly feels like a community [single tear rolls down my cheek].
Question for you....
Any plans to expand your coverege fo the WHL?
Yes

Appreciate the opportunity and keep up the great work.
I'll sponsor an editor for you so your interviews can be proofread and I don't appear so uneducated 😉
I was mentioned!!! (Single tear dolls down cheek)
