Default Av's listening to offers on O'Reilly

Sounds like negotiations aren't going well.

He negotiates like a $10 million guy but only plays like a $4 million player. Colorado should really try to move him.

Not saying he's worth the money he wants but he's a very good 2 way player. And potential for better if put in a more offensive position.

Funny I heard a Phaneuf/O'Reilly rumour. Avs are looking for a good def.

He could probably command 7 on the open market easily. You're low balling with the 4 million.

This. The thing is, he/his agent know that there is at least one team out there that will (over)pay him. The key for them is making it difficult on Colorado to sign him, because they are reluctant to overspend on him, thereby forcing the Avs hand and finding a more accommodating team. I'm sure he'll get paid, they almost always do.

I'd love to have O'Reilly, but the cost will be high in both salary and assets if the Avs do end up dealing the two way talent.

I have four words that describe ROR and his pending contract.

    He ain't worth it.

Oreily is the exact type of player every team needs to win a championship. Easily going to be worth his money in my opinion. He's the Patrice Bergeron of the west. I would give him 7 mill for the max amount of years if that's what it takes

Well there's obviously a big difference between the money he can get in a crazy free agent market and the money i think he is worth. I'm aware of that, but i just don't think he was worth the $6 million he got so far and he will not be worth more, although he will get it.

This is not 2006 anymore. 6 Million is not for superstars only ( I know Tavares makes 5.5, but wait for his next contract). A borderline 1st liner player will now make around 6-7M per year. That's the market now.

O'Reilly is like Big_Ev said a very good two way player, the type of player every team needs. He's gonna be worth the 6-7M he gets.

I agree with Ev and yougo. Overpaying for guys who make a difference isn't the worst idea in the world. Sure, it's not ideal, but many teams aren't in a position to pay market value for players they believe could improve their team, so they have to overpay.

Well said. And kudos in Ev b4 that.

The rumor of ROR to Buffalo has been going on for a long time. It makes a lot of sense I think for both clubs. Buffalo gets a very good young player who immediately will help them and will look great next to Eichel or Reinhart. Colorado can get multiple great young assets that Buffalo has.
