Sounds like Bruins plan on retaining Claude Julien and staff

BOSTON (CBS) — Tony Massarotti broke some news on Wednesday afternoon’s Felger & Massarotti program, reporting that according to a source, Claude Julien will be the Boston Bruins’ head coach for the 2015-16 season.

In addition, Massarotti reported that Julien’s coaching staff will remain intact.

“The Bruins will make some sort of announcement, I think, probably by the end of the week,” Massarotti said. “I believe it to be true, but I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t believe me.”

Rumors have swirled about the job status of Julien since the Bruins’ season ended short of a postseason berth. General manager Peter Chiarelli was fired on April 15, and team president Cam Neely announced that Chiarelli’s replacement would be able to decide Julien’s fate.
That replacement was officially selected on May 20, when the team announced that Don Sweeney would take over as general manager after serving as the team’s assistant general manager for six years.

Sweeney did not give a complete vote of confidence in Julien, stating, “He’s the coach of the Boston Bruins as of today, that’s for sure.”
After a couple of weeks of discussions, it seems as though Julien will be staying.

In eight seasons behind Boston’s bench, Julien has led the team to a 351-192-79 record and seven playoff berths, including a Stanley Cup victory in 2011 and a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2013.

Not a real big surprise, given how many injuries they had to deal with this year and how close they came to making the playoffs regardless of those injuries. Julien is a very good coach who seems to get the most out of guys (Marchand, Krejci) when he needs them the most.

Yeah he's a good coach. If anything his only problem is the one all coaches seem to have, which is player deployment. Well at least from all us armchair gms! haha
