I heart and read so many people suggesting to trade Malkin or Crosby, none of them ever came up with an example for a fair offer.

Both will be Penguins for life and there are several reasons.
    1. Both love the city and the team
    2. both love their status there
    3. they have long term contracts and just signed them last year
    4. No team is going to offer enough

Pittsburgh doesn't have a need for a #1 defenceman? Of course they do, their D is terrible!
10 team pts-only keeper league - keep 10 plus 10 from past/present farm. No bench: entire active roster counts. Goalies: 2 pts/win + 3/shutout. 82 adds / year. NHL playoffs count for separate prize.

Shea Weber fills a hole on 31 teams in the NHL.

Should they trade him? Prolly. Will they? No.

I honestly point my finger at Kunitz and say he should be traded. But at 3.8mill, that’s pretty cheap.

It’s the Letang (7.25m), Crosby (8.7m), and Malkin (9.5m) that do the team in. but then they have a bunch for 3.5-5m players that get paid more than they should. Ehroff, Dupuis, Scuderi, Kunitz, Horny, Fleury, Sutter, and Martin. On other teams tho, they all make respectable amounts, but together, the bunch of midrange caphits add up.

As much as Letang is driven to stay in the league, he could be LTIR’d soon, freeing up 7.25mill a yr.

Galchenyuk, Parenteau, Scherbak, Beaulieu and a 1st rounder in 2016 for Malkin.

    One can dream, right?

Dallas is a team that pops to mind that has cap space, assets and an aggressive GM.

Send out Nichushkin, Oleksiak, Eakin, Dickinson, 12th overall in 2015 for Malkin seems like more than enough, right? That leaves you with:

    Forwards (Salary 41.85M total):
    Benn-Seguin-Eaves (re-sign at ~1.5M)
    Roussel-Malkin-Spezza
    Garbutt-Fiddler-Hemsky
    Moen-Sceviour-Ritchie

    Defence (20.06M total):
    Daley-Klingberg
    Goligoski-Michalek (I've assumed signed at 5M)
    Benn-Demers

    Goaltenders(5.9M):
    Lehtonen
    XXX

Gives you about 3M-3.5 to get a backup/1B option - Fasth, Ramo, Enroth, Neuvirth, Gustavsson
