Well this sucks. I was talking to another GM and we kinda talk about our drafts back and forth and make promises really on avoiding players. In hockey he said he wanted the Anaheim duo, and I said I wanted the Blues duo. Pretty much just shook our heads and what not. Anyways, I found out some names will be off the table for this draft.
    1-
    2-Bryant
    3-Heyward
    4-Dickerson
    5- Soler
    6 –
    7-
    8 –
    9 – Marte
    10-ME

Dee Gordon, Martinez (Det), Mookie, Blackmon, Cole, Ortiz, Holliday, Cruz, Calhoun, Wright (Mets), Pedroia, Ozuna, and Sandoval are pretty much the top guys left. Ideally I’d like to take Martinez to have a 1B, but I’m thinking he goes before he drops to me, so my back up is between Blackmon and Mookie.

    2C, 2LW, 2RW, 4D, 1Util, 2G, 5BN, 2IR, 1IR+, 1NA

    C: Horvat, Trocheck
LW: J. Robertson, Byfield (C), Guenther
RW: Pavelski (C), Giroux (C), Svechnikov (LW)
D: Fox, Makar, Bouchard, Morrissey, Gudas
    Util: Meier (LW, RW)
    G: Oettinger, Georgiev, Samsonov, Woll

I'd add Cole to the list of options in the 10th spot. given your draft spot it is pretty unlikely Bryant falls to you unfortunately.

The GM for pick 2 told me that he’ll take Bryant. He also told me the other GMs “wish list” so to speak. Like Pick 3 wants Heyward, pick 4 wants Dickerson, pick 9 wants Marte, pick 5 is split between Gordon and Soler.

Given your new found situation, I am taking Cole, Betts, Martinez in that order. If you want to swap Betts with Martinez to lock up first base I can't really fault you for that but I would caution that it's unlikely Victor puts up the same numbers as last season. He's still awesome, just older and coming off knee surgery.

I would avoid Blackmon at all costs. I don't believe he is nearly as good as last year and will likely end up in a platoon at some point this season.

Also, does picking tenth mean you're getting back-to-back picks? If so, you can easily take Cole and whomever you'd like

@havanablast21 someone will overdraft him in your league based on the hype and ADP (im guessing 5th to 6th round). Let someone else make that mistake in a one year league. If I am drafting a CUbs rookie in a one year it would be Soler.

I agree with davidgoodburn to an extent. I would say 6th round is right around the time to take him if you want him. Any earlier and you're probably reaching.

That being said, Soler and Bryant should both be great this year! I'd set expectations for both around 20-HR and 80-RBI's. Any thing more is bonus.

Nice advice on Soler in a one-year league. Bryant is getting all the hype and is going to be the better keeper, but Soler is going to give you comparable stats 2-3 rounds later with all the hype Bryant is getting.

the difference is Soler is OF and you can find those stats he brings everywhere. Bryant is a top 3B potential. Beltre, Donaldson, Arendo, Longoria, Rendon, and Seager would be the guys in front of him (FOR actual third basemen). Soler is projected to be much lower.

I draft to maximize each position. So if Soler outperforms Bryant by a bit, I’d still want Bryant because 3B is a harder position to find offensive numbers.

Very Good Point. Positional Balance is extremely important in all 3 of my leagues.
