    Default "Rental Players"

I am in 2nd place in a keeper league and the 1st place team traded for Keith Yandle as a rental player for the rest of the season. He made an agreement with the other owner to give back Yandle before the draft next year or whatever so he only has him for the stretch run.

The deal shook down like this:

1st Place Team gives - Kevin Hayes, 13th round pick

9th Place Team gives - Keith Yandle, 19th round pick.

I want to throw my hands up in the air as a 2nd place team because he gets a stud D-man for practically free.... but part of me wants to let it go

What do you guys think of people doing this?

To me, that's collusion. It's one of the few places where I think a discussion of rules and possible veto is acceptable.
I hate vetoes -- if someone loses a deal, then so be it.
But this is two guys working together to win a championship -- and then deal back later. Not cool IMO.

A deal like this happened a few years ago in a pool I run, and it caused a big stir with both owners eventually resigning from the pool. In essence, one manager is offering to help another manager win. This is collusion. The trade should be vetoed immediately.

I agree. It is collusion, and these type of deals aren't allowed in my main keeper league. In my league, for example, the top three get cash. The team in fourth has Crosby, Giroux, Patrick Kane, Quick, Josi, etc. If it was allowed, why wouldn't I just trade my first and a fifth for those five players, and then after the season, trade those players back for the fifth? And then I do the same with the team in fifth place. And then sixth. Etc etc.

    I'd veto it.

There's a lot of threads on these boards with people asking whether or not something is veto-able. Most of the time it's grey and usually the advice is the only time a trade should be veto'ed is when there's clear collusion.

This is as clear of collusion as it gets. Regardless of whether or not they made this fact public, it's flat out collusion and should be veto'ed.

How do you know they agreed to trade back - has this been confirmed. Not knowing the ins and outs of the league makes it difficult to really assess, rosters, # of keepers, is Hayes a keeper? etc.
I would protest a future trade between the two if it is just to trade back Yandle. If you have proof of collusion then I would post a protest on league board.

You are right to be concerned, this is the kind of ugly trade that vetoes are reserved for.
