    Sort of on/off topic item:

    Next year.
    The big Super Bowl "L".
    The 50th.
    The GOLDEN SUPER BOWL.

Who do you guys forecast as the epic halftime show?
(I hate to say it... but I gotta think it's gonna go down as Taylor Swift or Lady GaGa... or could be somebody from California... Beach Boys revival?)
I'm gonna go with the Beach Boys.

I think it will be someone traditional/safe. IE, it's much more likely to be someone of the Rolling Stones like than say, Kanye. Metallica maybe. AC/DC. Someone like that.

Never understood any fascination with him. Everything he's ever "released" is actually awful.

I was just reading that the half-time show performer is NOT actually PAID.
    Expenses are covered.

But generally, they'll do it just because it will kick up their sales/exposure.

Thus... Beach Boys might do it... or not.
I think it would be something they would feel honoured to do being this California Super Bowl.
    The 50th Super Bowl.
50th Anniversary Year of Pet Sounds.
Location = New SF Stadium (Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA)

    I could be wrong.
But I'd wager they will be the first "invite".
If they decline... I could imagine the committee going after Taylor Swift... though she don't need any extra exposure these days.

I love me some Metallica and AC/DC... but I think that is just not considered ELITE talent for a Super Bowl L.

The big number Super Bowls have had big names, usually the older artists:
    30 was Diana Ross
    35 was Aerosmith
    40 was Rolling Stones
45... was... well... well... The Black Eyed Peas / Usher/ Slash (GNR)... but the Peas were a big deal back then.... yeesh...

    Random Fact:
*Super Bowl 50 will actually be displayed as... Super Bowl 50 and NOT as Super Bowl L. This is based on the grandeur of "50" being seen as much more grand than "L". (And I agree)

    from wiki:
    Use of the Arabic numeral

The NFL announced on June 4, 2014, that the game would be marketed with the Arabic numeral "50" instead of the Roman numeral "L." The use of Roman numerals will resume with Super Bowl LI.[1][2] According to Jaime Weston, the league's vice president of brand and creative, one primary reason for the change was difficulty designing a suitable logo for the game. Despite the league standardizing the Super Bowl logos beginning with Super Bowl XLV so that all would follow the same template, the graphic designers determined that using the template with only the letter "L" would not have been aesthetically pleasing enough.[1] The logo will also differ in that the Arabic numeral "50" will be in large gold numerals behind the logo, with 5 and 0 each on opposite sides of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, instead of underneath and in silver as in the standard logo.[1]

The might not be considered elite today. But I don't think at the height of their popularity, Aerosmith was any bigger than either of them. I could see the Beach Boys maybe.

They'll go after the biggest names they can get.

As much as I hate to say it, today that probably means Taylor Swift. For an event like this they'll probably have at least 3 big names. Maybe Pitbull, Drake, Lady Gaga, One Direction (anyone but them), Nicki Minaj, Miley, etc.

That's a pretty depressing list of musical talent... today's popular music is terrible.
