He's been in trade rumors so I wonder if he rushes back a bit to showcase himself before the deadline. And by that I mean he'll be back in 4 weeks, not 6.

It happens from time to time. The most notable example was Petr Forsberg missing playoff games due to his spleen.

    I'd totally forgotten about that.

I always think of Foppa's foot problems, I totally forgot about his ruptured spleen.

not that related.. one of the spleen's most important functions is acting like a sort of filter to certain types of bacteria that have a special protective wall.. essentially these "encapsulated bacteria" get crushed and trapped by the spleen.

mumps is a virus,so we use a slightly different method of dealing with it :P. which the spleen is involved in too but can be compensated by our other immune organs when the spleen is gone

Thanks... considering the past few months I figured it was a question worth asking.

I think Pac had his heart and two kidneys removed and was at practice the next morning. I don't think he had a spleen problem. He had a cracked rib one time from blocking a shot. Commentators may have suspected spleen at that time.

Even if he did, it all depends on the person on how they handle the procedure.

There may have been complications during the removal that can lead to increased pain, damage to local structures, decreased wound healing etc etc that could make recovery time longer.
