Looking at what Dubnyk started out as this year, to where he is now, a 3rd round pick seems pretty steep but desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose.

Dubnyk certainly has the talent - I hope that he meshes well with his goaltending coach in Minny, as he seems to need strong mentorship/coaching to succeed.

Dub has more Wins (in fewer games), a better GAA and a better Save %. I guess this just goes to show you what a big contract will get you...stability.

Pretty much this. Smith has been dreadful this year.
Seems like a hefty price, but if Dubnyk provides average stats it will end up being a third round pick for a starting goaltender who gives them a chance to win. Kuemper and Backstrom aren't even giving them backup level goaltending right now.

Any body have any ideas who the Coyotes will call up to back up Smith, might be a good pickup because Smith is not getting it done.
