Default Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality

Great book. Written by a prominent AI theorist, its basically what happens if Harry had a professor for a father instead of an abusive Dursley.

Could be classified as fan fiction, but I've never read fan fiction so I don't know.

The last chapter is posted on Pi day, so I thought I'd give this a bump. I read the first 3 quarters in four days, so you can still finish before the finale. If you do, check out reddit.com/r/hpmor . I've never used reddit, or read fanfic, but this isn't really fanfic, and the hivemind on that sub is pretty awesome.

It has been really interesting to follow, and many of the things I found annoying in the first few chapters actually make a lot of sense given the context of the rest of the book. The PDF is here.

Here is an article with major spoilers, if you don't think you will read it: http://observationdeck.io9.com/harry...epi-1688720479

I've just read the first chapter and it looks interesting. I was a huge HP fan back when the series was on-going, and this different view or take on the story is intriging. I will probably read a few chapters to see if I catch on.

does harry end up with emma watson in this version? it would suck if he missed out on her in two different timelines.

I tried it and stoped after 7-8 chapters, because I found a few things annoying.

This version of Harry was way more annoying than the original and it bugged me to no end. Does that change moving forward?

The constant ''I have to use my scientific knowlegde to prove everything'' was a bit of a turnoff too.

His 'genious' was a bit much too.

I don't think that's what I was expecting going in it to be frank. Maybe that's why it didn't work for me.
