For for those guys who have really been following these prospects, I know alot may hinge on the team they land on, but from a fantasy perspective (who's cats mirror mine below), who appears looking to be the best #3, #4, #5 option (Ekblad aside... I don't know that a Defensive prospect will start with much value in my league)

I fully expect that the extra 1st rounder that I have will end as the #3 pick (of course). Just trying to look past the two bright red apples that are likely out of reach for me, and see if I can find the next best thing.

Kinda surprised that Crouse leapfrogged Hanifin. I didn't think he really stood out enough at the WJC to move up to third. Not that Hanifin did either but to bump Hanifin out of 3rd, the scouts must have seen something they liked.

I liked what I saw in Crouse (the tenacity and relentless forecheck) at the WJC, but six spots is pretty big.

I am like Havana above, and will likely end up with the third pick in my league's draft come July. Anyone care to suggest what forward will be the best choice in a points only league after McDavid and Eichel?

I would think either Strome or Marner would be a solid option for points only after McDavid and Eichel.

It's only January so these will change a few more times over the coming months.

For sure. Never hurts to,speculate though. Have you watched many of these top prospects? Any guy feeling on top 5 order?

I haven't seen them much. I live in Halifax so other than the teams coming into play the Mooseheads in the Q, every thing else is on TV when available.

One guy who isn't in the ISS top 30 that I think may go in the first round though is Timo Meier from the Moose. He had a solid WJC and has to be trending upward.

Crouse is legit. Top 5 pick without a doubt.

Konecny might be a bit of a steal if he plays like he did last year but he's trending the wrong way (not just in rankings, I mean his play). Small guy too. Not a good sign. But he has value if he was picked somewhere in that range.

Yeah that's who I'm thinkin as well.

I'll probably end up goin with Marner assuming the pick I traded for ends up 3rd overall, though it depends who drafts who.

Gotta do some more research first though - made the mistake of skipping over Ekblad this year. Those American dmen don't look like bad options over there...

I think other teams closing in on Konecny might be the reason for his poor season (compared to last year). I think he will step up and accept the challenge throughout the second half though. His leadership skills is what makes him special though. I also don't like his size so we'll see if that affects anything.

How you rank these after McJesus and Eichel depends on your league scoring system and in a sense your roster make up. I'm in a points only league so after the top two I'm targeting Strome, Course, Rantanen, Marner, Zacha, Hanifan, Werenski. In my league I should own 4 of the top 6 picks with the outside shot of the top 2. Based on standings I would also have 8, 9 and 10.

I traded guys like vrbata neal wiz rask etc and received forsberg gaudreau ekblad price back plus their #1 picks. This was before the season the kicked off, year one of a full on dynasty and I gambled could pay huge dividends.
