    Default Watch List: Matt Nieto

    Matthew Nieto :26 Games Played, 3 Goals, 6 Assists, 10 PIM, 46 Shots, 1 PPG, 3 PPA, 9 Hits, 13 Blocks, 6.5% SH

He was averaging 1:30 on the power play before hurting his ankle in early December, according to dobberhockey.com/playerprofiles his most frequent line combos on the PP were with Hertl, Wingels 72% of the time, along with Couture and Marleau 15% that's some good company. He produced solid numbers on the power play, getting 4 PPP throughout the first 26 games.(Neal only has 3 in 34 Gp)

    Advanced stats: 7.14 On-Ice Sh%, 22.1 CorsiRel, 981 PDO, 0.7 PIM/60, 53 OZS%, 13:00 TOI/60

His current point per game pace is at .35 which prorated over the remaining games has him at 25 points at the end of 72 games. Taking a look at the stats above I believe we will see a uptick in points in the remaining games and see him come close to eclipsing the 0.45 ppg mark. Which would have him hit 20 points in the remaining 46 games. His relatively low PDO and his high offensive zone start along with his 1:30 PP TOI will lead to more points in the coming games once he gets his game legs back.

When looking at his Corsi Relative of positive 22.1 it's important to note only Joe Thornton (25.4) has a higher corsi Relative on San Jose which is a little surprising but tells you compared to his teammates he keeps the puck in the offensive zone while he is on the ice. Other forwards who are close: Hertl (19.0), and Pavelski (18.1) Considering his On-Ice Shooting percentage is only at 7.14 it could definitely rise which would mean more chances for points while he's on the ice, and taking his high corsi relative into account he could be due for a good run of production to bring his PDO closer to the average 1000 by the end of the season.

Keep him on your watch list in the coming weeks!

He's a definite "buy low" guy.
