I wasn't suggesting that the Blues thought otherwise, but I do kinda think that Marty had ambitions of outplaying either Allen or Elliott when he signed.

Marty knew what he was getting into when he signed and even said so at the start. He was aware he was a stop gap until elliot was healthy......However, marty being marty with his huge ego, he might have privately thought that. He caused a lot of controversy last year in nj with his constant crying for playing time even though schneider was playing way better. This whole, I'm going to take one week away from the team AND neither party will have any comments during that one week period sounds like marty's ego is getting in the way again and he just can't accept a quick and clean break from the blues which should have happened once elliot played a few games and deemed healthy enough. Instead the blues are doing this whole one week break dance with brodeur probably out of respect to him so they don't paint him as a malcontent. The declaration of no comment during the one week is telling and is not something you say if there isn't an issue behind the scenes going on.

    No surprises:

@lkorac10: Truth be told, there hasn't been much of a market, if any, out there for Brodeur. #stlblues

Brodeur is due a $125K bonus if he is still on the roster, come Feb. 1. Needless to say, he will long gone by then. He should have just retired a Devil...

...and now we all pretend like this never happened, like we did with Modano on the Red Wings.
