    Typical Brodeur game like I expected. 4 goals on 24 shots. I did say he'll probably win games 5-4 like last year. If hitchcock was smart he'd only play brodeur in back to back the rest of the way unless allen falls apart.

    They said on the telecast the other night that Elliott was expected to be back in 2-3 weeks.
    So Brodeur won't get that much of a chance to play...

    Need a little bigger sample to see if Marty fits in. After he gets a couple games in, will be able to determine if he sticks. All hinges on how long Elliott is out.

    None of those goals were really Marty's fault and he already had to stop several odd man rushes and partial breakaways from preventing a blowout loss.

    Sample size is since he turned 40 or before. He's washed up and finished but just doesn't realize it like brett favre.

    Not sure I like either of the first two goals on Brodeur. 1st is a bad rebound. 2nd he doesn't get down nearly fast enough. #blues #Preds

    Brodeur a step behind so far all night. Which is what I'd expect from any 42yr old that hasn't played in 7 months. #blues #preds

    I was offered Oshie for Brodeur lol. Do I wait for a better deal? Surely Brodeur's value is increasing.

    Brodeur played a very solid game tonight making 32 saves for the 4-2 win.

    Take it. Brodeur is not going to be kept when Elliot returns. Just not a smart business decision to trade away younger goalies to make way for a 42 year old. I'm not sure what happens - he could get traded somewhere else and thrive - but too many question marks.

    They could trade Elliott or send Allen back down to the A.

    They aren't going to send Allen back down, he is on a one-way contract and would have to clear waivers first. Only two options open to them are to trade Elliott and keep Brodeur, or trade Brodeur and keep Elliott. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade Elliott and give Allen a better split of the time.

    Scooped Brodeur up last night off waivers. Hoping for him to stay hot while Elliott is out and knowing Hitchcock, he just might get most of the starts. Kuemper has been stinking it up so hopefully Brodeur can help out while Kuemper gets hit wits together. But he is 42-years old and several years removed from having great stats. Not sure if he can stay good for long but we'll see. The Blues team can make him look better than he really is.
    I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    So apparently Brodeur gets an extra $10K for every point the Blues get while he's in net. And apparently Hitchcock has a sense of humour:

    @jprutherford
    Hitchcock on Brodeur: "I got a call from Army. We're broke. We're down $20 grand. He was wondering if I could've pulled him sometime in 3rd"
    I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    Take the deal, unless you really need goaltending help - basically getting Oshie for a WW pick-up.
