Crazy Crawford proposal

I'm pretty much putting Crawford in the "no trade" bucket (as he's my only starting goalie) but this guy in my league basically offered the following deal
Crawford ($7) for
Mike Smith ($12), M. St. Louis ($7), Kronwall ($4)

First off... I have no idea how I'd make the salary work on this one but .... am I crazy to accept this or is he crazy thinking that I would accept??

I'm pretty much thinking the skaters stats would increase but my goalie stats would take a HUGE hit... Crawford is my only starter (unless I get a lucky break with one of my 3 backup goalies)

Basically I'm not infavor of trading Crawford but if I were (and could get the salary to work) is this in anyway helping my team overall?? (am I missing anything here in my rejection of this)?

I wouldn't do it because you have drop players to make it work. Smith and St Louis look way over-priced to me. Pass.

Daydream, is it just I'd have to drop players? Or is that just for starters to reasons not to pull the trigger on this...
because I would but I'm thinking of dropping datsyuk ($6), soderberg ($1), leddy ($1)

For this one I'm definitely overloaded at C: Crosby, E. Staal, P. Bergeron, H. Sedin but I'm thinking I could deal one of those for an upgrade elsewhere
If I did this deal... I would proabably be dropping: Datsyuk ($6), Soderberg ($1), Kucherov ($1)

I'd then have 6 D (probably dealing one for a LW) and have 5 C (dealing one for sure) for a LW or perhaps a starting G.

If you are going to drop DATSYUK add him to the deal and get better return.

If Smith costs $12, then Crawford at $7 must be some great value. I'd pass as you're taking on huge salary and having to drop some useful players to make it work.

The problem with all these offers is you aren't taking into consideration who you would drop to make room for all these guys.

I'd say no thanks unless all the guys you are getting (with the exception of the goalies of course) are a pretty serious upgrade to the ones you'd be dropping. Once you take the time to sit down and figure that part out, you will soon figure out if these offers are worth it or not.

Currently I'm $7 under the cap

Dropping: Leddy($1), Kucherov ($1)

This puts me over the cap by $4

To address my salary issues I'm thinking of this:
Crawford ($7)/Datsyuk ($6)/Staal ($5)
for
Smith ($12)/St Louis ($7)/H. Sedin ($5)/Gardinier ($1)/Keumper ($1)

Dropping: Leddy ($1) and Kucherov ($1) (or possibly Hutchinson $1)

This deal including Staal and Kuemper he hasn't proposed it's my idea to make the salary on my end come out right. Am I over-reaching?

I doubt he includes Kuemper for $1 but if you trade Crawford you must get back Smith AND Kuemper.

Crawford ($7) for Smith ($12) is a huge swing. I'm not big on St Louis this year either and for $7 he is not bargain.

Why do you want to trade Crawford? He seems like a very good value and is a top-10 goalie.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion... I'd need to get both kuemper and smith for Crawford. He's saying he won't trade kuemper but you think my deal including Staal is a fair one?

If you are taking Kuemper out then I don't like trading Crawford for an overpriced Smith and some aging parts. In a 16-team league, finding a top-10 starting goalie will be extremely difficult. Wait- Eric Staal? When I originally read that I thought one of the other Staals.

No way I make that trade.

If he says no to Kuemper then say no thanks. He would win this trade getting the best player at the best value.

Bergeron ($10) is another option instead of E. Staal or would that be just as foolhardy?

If you can get Gardiner and Keumper @ $1 then that would help make up the difference between 12-7 with the goalies. That's close in value depending on how high you are on Keumper and Gardiner.

Looking at Smith a little deeper, he has 1 good season in Ari. He's 32 and on a team that is not going to compete for a while. Crawford is a couple years younger and on a much better team. Plus, he has had 2 seasons better than anything Smith approached.

I think I just hold onto Crawford. You will be chasing goalie stats for the next couple years unless Kuemper becomes a solid #1 goalie. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
