At least give it in the right context.

Strome + Kucherov for Nichuskin + FA (in 12 team/18 players per team with no farm)

Should I try and trade Malkin in case he flees to Russia?! lol. Do any league have compensations for players leaving for Russia?? Also in my rankings based on your projections, Kunitz, Wheeler, Ladd, Lucic and Staal are the only players who produce more points than Lehtonen. Do I reach for him with an early pick in my keep 5 league or wait until later when other teams start taking goalies? I have the 9th, 12th, 19th, 29th, 32nd for early picks. I was targeting Wheeler at 9 and maybe another forward at 12 before I try for Lehtonen at 19. Should I reach for him earlier seeing as his projected points rank 6th amongst available players?? (Toews, Sharp, Thornton, Voracek, Zetterberg, JVR, H Sedin, and E Kane are all there but project with less points and most will be gone early)

I'm taking over a last place team in the infamous "The Untouchables" league over at LWL. It is a keep-five, H2H categories (G, A, +/-, SOG, PIM, FW, PPP, SHP, HIT, BLK / W, GAA, SV, SV%, SHO). Our keeper deadline set for the 9/11/14, so I need your help with setting my keepers. Here's what I have to work with:

    Draft Picks

    1st (6) -- 3rd (30) (33) -- 4th (43) -- 5th (51) (53) (55) -- 6th (61) (72) -- 7th (75) -- 12th (134) -- 13th (150) (151) -- 14th (168) -- 15th (174) --16th (187)

    Initial Keep-five

Antti Niemi (G) -- Overall Goalie Rank: 11th
Zach Parise (LW) -- Overall Avg Rank: 30th -- Feeder Avg Rank (G, A, SOG): 17th
Max Pacioretty (LW) -- Overall Avg Rank: 52nd -- Feeder Avg Rank: 16th
James van Riemsdyk (LW) -- Overall Avg Rank: 41st -- Feeder Avg Rank: 29th
Jeff Skinner (LW/RW) -- Overall Avg Rank: 153rd -- Feeder Avg Rank: 21st

*NOTE: all ranks/averages based off last year's statistics*

    The Rest

    Johan Franzen (LW/RW)
    Brian Campbell (D)
    Jaden Schwartz (LW)
    Ryan Callahan (RW)
    Vladimir Tarasenko (RW)
    Alexander Edler (D)
    Jack Johnson (D)
    Justin Williams (RW)
    Derick Brassard (C)
    David Clarkson (RW)
    Tyler Ennis (C/LW)
    Karri Ramo (G)
    Viktor Fasth (G)

I'm focusing on guys who are really strong at the feeder categories (G, A, SOG). So am I set or do you see something I should change?

    - - - Updated - - -

What are your thoughts on Ales Hemsky this season; is he going to be lining up with Benn and Seguin?

I would be keeping Tarasenko, maybe over Niemi/Parise?? Especially on a last place team that needs to get young.

That's a tough one, if I had either side of that deal I would say no. I don't trade for the sake of trading. I need to gain something. So if I had an issue with team depth, then if I own Nichushkin I may do that. If I had too many dropsies, then if I own Strome/Kucherov then I may do that. But if I don't have a reason, then I don't make the trade.

Then I would want the Nichushkin side because I'm confident in my ability to find an FA gem

You reach for your first Tier 1 goalie only when you think that your next draft pick won't have any Tier 1 goalies available. That could be first round or 5th round, just make sure you get a Tier 1 goalie. Don't waste an earlier pick on a goalie if you can just get a Tier 1 goalie with your next pick.

Hemsky - no. With Spezza, and will miss his usual 15 games but will produce fairly well.

Your keepers are the right ones IMO

Thanks! I do have Fleury already too so if I can snag another tier one I'd be stacked! Also, Lehtonen is listed as tier 2, has that changed to tier 1 recently with the addition of Spezza?
