    On the move, oh yes.
    I'd actually lock that in!

Washington has THREE right-handed defenseman that could all patrol a PP1: Green, Niskanen, Carlson. Roster here.
Carlson is a franchise type defenseman.
Niskanen just signed a long-term deal.
AND... there are actually a minority of RH D-men in the NHL.
WAS should be able to get a decent return out of Green - and I really don't think they are better WITH him.
They'll put him on display and try to move him all season.

It's Green's last year of contract, so I'd have to imagine that GMGM... wait, scratch that... who's the GM in WAS?... GMBM... anyways... Green will be dealt.

    I'll bank on the following:
Green: 28pts in 51 games with Washington. (Injured for 9 games)
    followed by
Green: 9pts in 22 games with new team... Detroit, say.

    37pts in 73 games.

I just moved him for Suter and i love this- lol!! I think the logic is sound- outcome probable.

That being said- Ive kind of got that funny feeling thats echoed in the guide... Doesnt Mike Green just seem like the douchey player that will have a monster season in a contract year? I mean we know he can score- and if Washington truly does try to showcase him- hes gonna land some plum offensive minutes too.

I think you're projection has a much better chance of playing out, but Id give a 15-20% that Mike Green has one more middle finger to give fantasy owners (who finally caved and moved him)- on his way out the door- 25 goals, 55ish points and sadly even some upside from there

I think he will have a mini resurgence under Trotz. I might be in the minority but I think Trotz will work out really well with the Caps and I think we will see a much better production this season from their big names. Im pegging Green for around 47 pts assuming he plays at least 75 games.

This is one of the tidbits I read a week or so ago on nhl.com (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=727616)

Trotz still urged the defensemen in Nashville to carry the puck up the ice. He wants to see the same from the Capitals defensemen, particularly Matt Niskanen, John Carlson and Mike Green. That's in contrast to the system Washington played under former coach Adam Oates.

Trotz said he was stunned to learn 14.2 percent of the Capitals' goals last season came from defensemen. Washington was tied for 15th in the NHL for goals scored by defensemen with 32. By comparison, the Predators were first with 52 goals, including 23 from Weber.

"We were probably always in the top-five [in goals] from the back end, and a lot of people can't name more than two or three of the forwards we had," Trotz said of his time with the Predators. "With the forwards I have in Washington, I hope to keep their offensive production very high and add some more offense from the back end."

So much depends on how the PP time works out in Washington. If Green isn't getting the top PP minutes, then what's the point of having him on the team and I see him being traded. If Green can hold down the top PP spot I don't see why he can't give another 50 point season, assuming health. He scored a 28 goal, 61 point pace during the lockout season actually leading defensemen in goals. Last season he was on a 45 point pace, but that's with 82 games. 70 is about all I can forecast and feel good about, so right around 35-40 points is probably safe. I do feel like he has another big season left in him, and I feel ok saying he could definitely get to 50-55 if he somehow played 80 games.

Tough to make a projection for Green. There are to many unknowns (PP time, overall minutes, new coach, possible trade, injury history). The only number that you should be able to count on is games played. Of the 82 games in a season, he will not play all of them.
