Exclamation Datsyuk or Dubinsky (last keeper selection)

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what would be wiser. I'd be looking to redraft Dubinsky (poor man's Backes) in the upcoming draft if I do keep Datsyuk.

Would I be better off with the multi-cat player like Dubinsky in favour of letting go of a fading elite player like Datsyuk?

I don't want to hinder my decision to do what's best for my team
(Datsyuk has been on my team for the last 4 years and his age is becoming a concern, as is with his injuries)

    See team in signature:
G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, SOG, FW, HIT

    Thanks in advance!

Tough, but I think I'd be keeping Dubinsky over Datsyuk in a cap league with your settings. PiM & Hits!? Age is also a factor for me. $7.5M cap hit for Datsyuk vs $4.2M cap hit for the coming season. You can redraft points, but you also need to look at value and Dubi has is along with PiM/Hits. I also noticed you aren't keeping Weber or Letang or Bob? I'd think about keeping Weber/Bob over Dubi, but it might depend on your league settings (how many G/D slots/gp).

It all depends on your draft strategy and how multi cats players are popular amongst other owners. In most draft, Datsyuk should be drafted before Dubinsky...even though he could potentially be less valuable. So your gamble of redrafting Dub could be good...in my format, Dubinsky is better...

And I think I'd let someone else take Datsyuk since his cap hit is high. I like when other owners make "mistakes"

What is your scoring categories to help determine keepers. Do D-men have value or are you more of a scoring category league?
    Would keep Dub over Dats

It's a keep 5, and at 80M salary cap, the waiver is littered with elite defensemen type (fortunately?)

We see good young defenceman like doughty, Phaneuf, weber, letang, Pietrangelo at the wire simply because people cannot afford them on their teams.

Something to point out is that my league is especially competitive with the non-point stats like FW, SOG, Hits

Other than Karlsson and a few more notables like Keith or Subban, there are no defenceman being kept

Dubinsky provides by far and away the best value and I would retain him over Datsyuk. He fills some categories and his hit is a deal, you don't want to risk losing him when the likelihood is that you can probably more assured of redrafting Dats.

With knowing that i´d stick with Duby for having enough cap for those elite defenders. Datysuk is on the decline and health will be an issue. Its just a matter of time. You might draw bad luck and he plays another last hooray season but i doubt it. Detroit overall looks like destined for no-playoff-land.
