Unless they're actually donating themselves, or getting rich friends to donate, then I'm not sure these acts accomplish much with respect to helping the true cause. Sounds more like a way for celebs to build their own image.

I'm sure they all make their own donations as well but by all accounts it's bee the sheer exposure that has made a huge difference. All the hockey fans are seeing their favorite players do this and are curious as to the why and then they give $20 to ALS and those donations add up

And I've been personally challenged. (outside of these forums) Unfortunately, as with the "telephone game" the full reason for the challenge had been lost when it came to me. It turned into a Ice bucket challenge for Sick Kids. Not that Sick Kids isn't a worthy cause, but, as Blayze said, it's a little disingenous if you just dump the Ice without Donating the Green. But thanks to this video, and an earlier post to the ALS website, I WILL accept the challenge posed to me and WILL refocus it to the Correct Cause... and WILL make my own donation.
