Help! Lundqvist+ for Mackinnon & Fleury

Need some advice as title says, I am possibly making this trade.

Some background info:
I am a "re-tooling" team. Usually finish within top 3 in my league and follow dobberhockey quite religiously.
However, last year, I did so bad I was 10th. The only reconciliation prize is the 1st overall for the upcoming draft.

Team below: (Keep 5); 80M Salary cap, 10 team league.

F: Seguin, Benn, Kessel, Datsyuk, Dubinsky, Gerbe, L. Eriksson, Frolik, T. Johnson, M. Richards, Zajac, Rinaldo,
D: Letang, S. Weber, Lovejoy, Carlson

G: Lundqvist, Bobrovsky

Categories are
G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, SOG, FW, HIT
W, L, GAA, SV, SA, SV%, SHO


If I do go through with the trade, I would keep Mackinnon, Seguin, Benn, Kessel, Flower. (Goodbye Pavel!)

The guy I'm trying to trade has Crosby, Mark Scheifele, Mackinnon, Keith, and Flower as his keepers at the moment. I'm guessing he would be upgrading in goal and keeping Marleau as his 5th keeper in the event of this trade.

The draft pick to be traded would be a 3rd round pick in 2015 (his to begin with from a Scheifele trade last season with me) for his bench round pick or a 2nd round pick in 2016 for a 2016 bench pick.



What do you guys think? Is it too much of a downgrade from Lundy to Flower?
Would it be worth it to get a potential superstar in Mackinnon?

I would also try to redraft Bobrovsky and Dubinsky as I feel like those two are massively underrated in our league.

I would do the trade. But I'm one of the few that think Fleury still has something to offer. Plus Mac is going to pass Duchene for 1C soonish. Lundy is still top three in the league, but you are landing a potential 90 point player (maybe just 80, but I'm being optimistic) who should be a top 10 player for a long time.

Assuming real cap hit, Lundy at 8mil vs. Fluery at 5mil basically makes them even IMO. I mean I would probably keep Bob over both but if he's undervalued and redraftable even better. I love the upgrade in youth for comparable production from Datsyuk to NateMack. I would do this if it was just Lundy for Nate (even though in that regard, you could probs do better), so adding in Fleury definitely.

Think the other guy would go for

Lundqvist + Weber/Letang

For

Crosby?

I'd prefer that and keep Bob lol.

I'm not sure you're offering enough for MacKinnon, but Fleury should be excellent for you (in the regular season) and not a huge drop-off stats wise from Lundqvist (in the regular season).

I was under the impression he was offered this. If OP is offering, I agree it is probably not enough. In any event, see comment above lol

Instead of the picks involved that may complicate your bench next year, why not just do a Lundqvist for MacKinnon deal, where you keep Bobrovsky? That would make it very simple...

To you, your thought then is whether Fleury would be worth a late 2nd or early 3rd bench pick.

Either way, I think you win this deal and have to do it... MacKinnon will only be available so many times.

Given its a cap keeper league why are you not keeping sergi bob from the start he's the best goalie option imo

I think you have to take this and get Mac if it's being offered. You'll never have this chance again. Yea it sucks to lose Lundy. I'd also then try to trade fleury and keep bob instead.

I'm no Fleury fan but I'd take this deal for sure if I could get it.

As plug said if you want MacKinnon, this is the the last chance you'll get to grab him, he's only going up in value from here

Ya, I would do this for sure but I agree with those saying to keep Bobrovsky. Basically it works out to this:

MacKinnon + Bobrovsky for Lundqvist + Datsyuk

which I think any sane person would take without too much thought. The choice between Fleury and Bob is personal, I suppose, but I feel he's the better option. I was going to suggest getting a pick upgrade instead of taking Fleury but I wouldn't even risk any negotiation resulting in this falling through. Just say yes and thank you and then move on.

Haha unfortunately, crosby is untouchable - not for lack of trying, the entire league has been bugging him to trade the kid as it has caused some impossible valuation of crosby (he declined an offer of Toews, giroux + 1st) = I'm not sure I can better that.

Plus, he won't keep the other defenseman (other than Duncan Keith, one of his named keepers)

But it's interesting how a lot of you guys mentioned to keep bob...although i really think he's redraftable in the later rounds

If you think Bob is redraftable then do the trade as is. But cap hit per production, Bob is better than Lundqvist and Fluery. Keep in mind Lundqvists cap hit jumps to 8.5 next season and that's a lot of money to pay for a declining goalie, no matter how good he is. Fluery and Bob (Bob > Fleury) can provide similar stats for 3 mil less.

I don't think you're offering nearly enough for Mackinnon AND Fleury haha. I hope he offered you this, but I wouldn't offer it to him as he might take it as an insult. I'm very very surprised he did not take that Crosby deal! That's one heck of an offer! I would be very tempted as a Crosby owner.

He made it clear that he was "dumping" fleury, which makes it possible for me to snag both mackinnon and flower in one fell swoop.

We'll see how it goes..

It's a limited keeper. Giroux is a solid step down from Crosby and if Towes isn't a bigger step up from worst keeper, I'm declining that deal too, regardless of the 1st rounder involved. Limited keepers spike Crosby's value significantly.
