Yes. Definitely from an ad. Confirmed by my host (Canadian Web Hosting, in BC). My site is 100% clean. They just scanned it (and my firewall kicks ass).
My ad specialist says that he thinks some idiot snuck a spam ad into Google ad words list. Usually Google finds it and puts a stop to it. I'm sure the ad-spam has been removed by now (by Google)
Site issues from Monday, as I explained, were one tiny setting (needle in a haystack) in the database that was set wrong after the upgrade, and are unrelated
Nothing to see here everyone! Go about your business!

Sounds good. Glad to see it got sorted out. Figured it was going to be found out on short order.
for the big computer buffs on here. Does any of you know of a FREE anti malware program I could install on my computer? Never seen this virus pop up, but I definitely don't want it either
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
even the free version is better than a lot of the paid crap people buy.
Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware for the after the fact, every once and while scans.
Grab one of the decent free Antivirus programs out there (Avira, or Avast are both good).
Really though, none of those will help you without common sense. Don't open email attachments unless you are 100% sure you know the source and the contents. Don't click on random links. It actually takes effort to get infected these days.
One additional, very basic advice that perhaps everyone here is aware of but I still see this way too often: Never ever cruise through the internet with administrator rights. I think that this is still the default Windows setting, so beware. Because if any virus has administrator power you are very likely forced to get a new PC. But perhaps Windows has changed that with Windows 8. Of course, any Unix or Unix-like system is superior in any facet and GNU/Linux comes without any cost and/or data gathering habit.
I've used the free AVG for years without issues.

Forced to get a new PC? Not a chance. Simple format and re-install, which I've had to do for a few friends and family. I've been running admin only since 96, straight through the heavy warez scene and whatnot. Never got a virus because I had the proper protection and common sense. But saying that you should NEVER EVER use an admin account is just alarmist BS.
Windows 8 still has admin as the main account and that's how it should be for a single account computer if we can't have it like a unix/linux system.
GO WINGS!

OK, perhaps I pushed it too far but format and reinstall might still be devastating in case of a missing backup. However, I would not recommend to use an admin account on a regular basis and I think that I have seen Windows users having restricted accounts. For installing and similar operations, they have then to provide their admin password. Seems the better way to me. But never mind, whatever works best for everyone.
Hmmm, I'm still suspicious.
Are you certain that you clicked on something dobberhockey related when you saw this? Is it possible it loaded in a new window as a popup or something when the page below it refreshed? Or that you inadvertently clicked an ad in the header or something? Does anyone else who had this recall exactly what happened to trigger the weird ad for them?
The difference is important here. When you click a link on a forum like dobberhockey, the web request is supposed to go back to the originating server to tell it what you want (New Posts, Keeper Leagues - Forwards Discussion, Your Profile, etc.), it should never take you to a different site and domain, especially not a questionable one like the screenshot unless perhaps you click directly on the ad itself. Anything other than that is a vulnerabilty, the site you are browsing has been compromised and it is sending the request not back to itself but to a 3rd party, it's very dangerous and why it's a good idea to have some package installed that monitors what is going on with your browsers and web traffic. Source: I've been a network engineer for 10 years, that's how this all works
The folks that found trojans, what was the name of it? It should be in the logs for your scan tool, easy to look up if you can take a minute. That would probably help a lot to know what we are dealing with.
Some good advice already provided but I'll strongly second the vote for malwarebytes and I'll put a plug in for AVG too. I've never had a problem those 2 couldn't fix for me so far and they're both free which is a nice bonus. Best advice is that if you see something like this, just close out of all browsers, run your scan and make sure everythng is OK before logging back in to your sites. And if your scan finds anything it's always good practice to change your passwords. Good luck.
My ESET Virus Scanner is going nuts when I access the forums today, blocking a website almost every time I refresh the site.
It seems to have issues with cdn . adgear . com .swf files.
