That separation between them and the other 2 should start tonight. TB plays in NY for 3 then in Toronto for 5. Seattle plays Atlanta for 3 then SD for 2 and then a huge 10 game road trip. If there's anytime to start gaining ground it's now. Especially on Seattle.

    Huge week here.
    The probable pitchers coming up:
    Tuesday Game 1 - Manoah
    Tuesday Game 2 - TBD
    Wednesday - Stripling
    Thursday - Gausman
Friday - TBD (should be Richards again/BP day)
Saturday - TBD (Should be Berrios)
Sunday - TBD (Should be Manoah)

Ended up getting tickets for Saturdays game super cheap for the spot. Sitting 7 rows up by 1st base. First game since September 14 last yr when they lost 2-0 to TBR. Berrios pitched a gem 7ip, 4h, 1r, 4ks.

They're playing great now but they haven't been able to sustain this type of success for long stretches yet. Hopefully, they can ride this until the end of regular season and snatch that first WC spot.

Absolute battles on the mound the next 2 days.

    Rasmussen vs Stripling
    McClanahan vs Gausman

Man oh man is Tampa set up for next year. McClanahan, Glasnow, Baz, Ramussen, Springs.

Whatever happens the next two games, they've avoided disaster by already winning 2 out 3. Hopefully, they can win these two games and create separation but the Rays are the Rays so probably not. A split would be just fine.

I hate the idea of "trying to pick your spots" but I really want the Jays to finish 1st or 3rd in the wildcard.
1st means you host, and if your opponent is the Mariners Robbie Ray cannot come (presumably unvaccinated)
3rd means you get the Guardians who are less scary than travelling to the Ms or Rays...

Anyways, going to be fun, let's make that 1.1% chance at the division a 2.0% by Tuesday!

Yeah, that 2nd WC spot is rough. On the road for three games against a presumably hot 1st WC team and then onto Houston.

    Strips comes through again.

Gaus vs Shane O Mac should be great. Four of five would be pretty fantastic.

With the Yankees win, the Jays probability is 0.6% for the division.

Yankees are off today and Monday. Here's the Yankees remaining schedule:
    @ Milwaukee (3)
    vs Pittsburgh (2)
    vs Boston (4)
    @ Toronto (3)
    vs Baltimore (3)
    @ Texas (4)

Jays to have a shot at the division, that series needs to be a Jays sweep.
    Jays final schedule:
    vs Tampa (1) - Gausman
vs Baltimore (3) - Berrios, Manoah, Bullpen(?)
    @Philedalphia (2) - Stripling, Gausman
@ Tampa (4) - Berrios, Manoah, Bullpen, Stripling
vs Yankees (3) - Gausman, Berrios, Manoah
vs Boston (3) - Bullpen, Stripling, Gausman
    @ Baltimore (3) - Berrios, Manoah, Bullpen

Couple of things though, there's an off day before the Philly series that can change all of the pitching starts to adjust who they want to start vs who. but right now that Yankees series is perfectly set up. The only thing that concerns me is that Manoah start at the end of the yr. That Baltimore series is October 3-5th, Manoah starts the 4th, and the playoffs start the 7th. Jays have a day off Sept 29th, so maybe then they readjust their rotation again to get the playoff rotation set up (Gausman, Manoah, Berrios/Stripling would make the most sense the way the rotation is lined up right now).

Under normal circumstances, I wouldnt be overly confident going against McClanahan but seeing as this is his first start coming off shoulder soreness, I wonder how well he will pitch, and how long they will even keep him out there. Hard to say what we will see from him today. Beating TB this many times is a big confidence booster heading into the post-season. The Jays havent had much success against them in recent times.

If people didn't catch this, Manoah clapped back at a tweet so badly the guy had to delete his account.

    Matthew Ross @MatthewWords
"It's cute and all, but it's also embarrassing for the sport. Giving guys like this prominence feeds negative baseball stereotypes" This was in regards to Kirk scoring from 1st (270ft of sprinting)

    Manoah Responds:
"What's actually embarrassing for the sport is people that go by the name of Matthew and have never played a day in the big leagues thinking they can control the narrative and stereotypes. Go ahead and tell that 8yr old kid who is 10lbs over weight that he should quit now. Or just step aside from the keyboard and let KIRK inspire those kids to continue to chase their dreams and chase greatness."

    Matthew Ross Responds:
"When a pro baseball player takes your words & twists them to suit his simple, defaming narrative of you. Fat-shaming? That's insane. I questioned the optics of a PRO player, & how it feeds into the declining view that casual sports fans have about MLB. PERIOD"

    Manoah Responds:
"So now your saying attendance is down because too many big guys play the sport? Then let me ask you, why did he get millions of votes to start the all star game? And What's Narrow is your nose you should probably fix that. Your ratings are down cause of it"

    Matthew Ross deletes Twitter.
