Those are some real big bats available. Hopefully they snatch up a few of them.

That might be the most fun I had watching baseball over a weekend ever. Until the end that is. That hurt Baaaaad.
I hope Jays can re-sign one of Semien or Ray, highly doubt they can afford both.

I would have taken "alive on the last day of the season" as an option to start the year, it looked really good when Nationals were up 5-2.

Rogers can afford both. It's more a matter if they are willing to actually pay both. I'd love to see them deal Biggio away for help in other areas, be it 3B or in the form of a BP upgrade.

Depends what they do with Vlad, Teoscar, and Bo with their deals if there's going to be "space" for outside help.

Would people be that upset if Vlad signed a 8yr deal, 25+mill/yr deal in Decemeber (200mill)? Then also 20mill/8yr deal for Bo (160mill)? Acuna did sign his deal as a 10yr, 124mill deal in 2019 before he broke out. Might be the gauge on their deals.

    Few Jays updates:

Jays didn't not Qualify Matz (1yr, 18.xmill) but did offer a multi-yr deal but less dollars
Jays QO Semien and Ray. Semien rejected it.
    It's expected Semien will get around 5yr deal, 29i.6mill/yr, Ray 5yr, 25mill/yr.

Correa was offered 150mill/5yr (30mill/yr) but rejected it. Expected he wants a 300mill/10yr deal (like Lindor). Yankees expected to make a run at him.

Jays attended Verlander's workout day thing along with 10-15other teams. Verlander touched 97mph.

Heard on talk radio Jays should go after Ramirez to solidify 3B. He has 2 yrs left and Cleveland would look at possibly Martinez or Moreno if deal is to be made. That would be an ideal situation. Guy still has the skills. Big bat good glove and good contract for the next couple of years, but won't come cheap I'm guessing.

Jays apparently did talk to Cleveland about Ramirez at the deadline but went after Berrios after they figured a deal would be too hard. With the Front Office being from Cleveland, they know Ramirez so it's a fit. Just the price is going to be high.

Cleveland has also stated they don't want to deal Ramirez unless they are overwhelmed at a trade. Plus Cleveland can definitely contend next yr, so it's not like they need to deal Ramirez. Cleveland is trying everything to cut cost though. So if they do this deal, it would be another trade that makes sense financially but not in terms of baseball.

Yea I think he would be a great fit. I remember having him in fantasy and he played a lot of 2B if I recall. He's a bit older (29) but I like his bat and his ability to be decent at 3B. The radio show said that they wouldn't give up Moreno but would deal Martinez. Don't know how good Moreno is but they were raving about him and not to include him in the deal/offer. I don't really care about giving Cleveland your top prospect for a top 3B. You have him for 2 more years then deal with him accordingly. But if the Cleveland "can't remember the name" team is contending then it definitely changes things from their end. But I hope they really make a go for him. (just realized I'm repeating myself ugh)

The next thing with Ramirez, and if the Guardians decide to deal him is what other teams are willing to pony up. If the top available FA 3B get signed and like a top team misses out, they might go harder for Ramirez than Toronto should.

Should be an interesting story line. As Ramirez has said he would return to Cleveland at FA, but who knows if that's real or not.

With the Gausman and some more activity this weekend I wanted to check out the best remaining FAs. Here are some tiers from MLB....

    https://www.mlb.com/news/ranking-mlb...agents-by-tier

    Tier 1
Baez, Bryant, Correa, Freeman, Ray, Scherzer, Seager, Story.

    Tier 2
Castellanos, Kershaw, Cruz, Stroman, Suzuki (NPB star OF)

    Tier 3
Cobb, Conforto, Greinke, Igelsias, Jansen, Melancon, Rizzo, Rodon, Taylor, Wood

    Tier 4
Lots of relievers. But would love them to get one of Chafin or Knebel.

    Tier 5
More RPs and some decent 5th starters or even long relievers. Colome, Happ, Ottavino, Rosenthal.

Mets about to give Scherzer a 3yr 120m deal with a player option for a 4th yr I bet lol.

The stuff the Jays need is either a top end BP arm, or make the decision that Pearson is your top end RP arm, and sign another starter. Then the Jays need to fill out the BP arm with some multi-inning guys that can fill in as starters like the Chatwood signing (that role, not the talent lol).

You have your closer (Romano), set up guy (Mayza), and high leverage guys (Cimber, Merryweather, Richards) so it's either a top end arm to push guys down, or some middle guys who are "Throw crap at a wall and see what sticks" level of signings.

Signing Teoscar, Bo, Vlad, and Biggio are big checklist guys.

As I mentioned in the Gausman thread, the Jays really need another left handed starter. Right now, it's Ryu. Another left would balance out the rotation.
