What a finish to game one. Hopefully they can carry that offense over to game two.

Ask and ye shall receive. It's like they were playing craps and just going for elevens.

How the hell is Ohtani currently at -600 to win AL MVP?!? That's basically a lock.

Vladdy is by far the superior hitter and will likely surpass Ohtani for the HR lead (which was the only batting metric Ohtani was beating V on). Vladdy #1 in hits, runs, #2 avg, #4 RBI. Ohtani is not even top 10 in any of those.

I get that he pitches... but he's an average pitcher (or slightly better than average at best). He's not some superstar ACE here...

I understand why MLB and the Media want to give it to Ohtani, but come on... let's at least try to be reasonable based on merit. What a joke.

If Vladdy wins the Triple Crown then I think things start to swing back.

I just don't get how being an average pitcher and good hitter makes you equal to a player who has to win something as rare as a Triple Crown.

Last MLB triple crown was Cabrera in 2012 and the one before that was in 1967!

I think Ohtani is ridiculous and if he had Trout and Rendon healthy around him those hitting numbers, and prolly pitching numbers look a little different. His talent is unmatched in the MLB right now. But, he's stumbled hard in August and September as a pitcher, and his team isn't making the playoffs.

Since the start of this streak the Jays are on, has really pulled Vlad closer in the debate, and I don't know who the voters are going to go for. They do typically prioritize making the playoffs, but the last few yrs that's dwindled away. Maybe the old white men aren't ready to accept Ohtani and that sways some votes. Vlad in Toronto might sway votes away.

Sports betting sites have Ohtani as the clear lead. But I don't think it's -6000 (Ohtani) vs +1550 (Vlad) in terms of chances. Vlad I think is def closer than that.

Pre-DH but post Ruth, there were a. Of course Ohtani hits more frequently than anyone else post-Ruth and better, and Ruth wasn't pitching for the Yankees really - 31 innings in 15 years.

Ohtani is the MVP, Triple crown be damned.

In my opinion - with the statistically dominant season he's having, Guerrero should take the AL MVP if the Jays make the playoffs.

Simple as that and consistent with other pro leagues.

Ohtani in his last 6 games pitching (August+Sept starts):
    4-1 (team is 4-2), 35.1IP (5.89IP/game), 1.10WHIP, 36ks, 4.08ERA, 5HR given up.

    Ohtani in August/Sept hitting:
    38games, 34started. Team is 18-20.
    25hits/123AB (0.203avg), 7HR, 12RBIs, 44SO, 26walks.0.747OPS

Ohtani has slowed down the last 2 months. Could be the deciding factor. Now here's Vlad during the same span:

    42games, 42 starts, team results 27-15
    51hits/171AB (0.298avg), 12HR, 20RBI, 27SO, 18Walks, 0.889OPS

    Season stats:
    Vlad:
    143games, 171h/538AB, 0.318avg (2nd), 114runs (1st), 45HR (1st), 103RBI (3rd), 4SB, 77Walks (6th), 1.018OPS (2nd), 99.3% fielding percentage (7errors), 6.4WAR (4th)

Ohtani (he's got a lot of stats, I'm just running the top ones):
    91runs (12th), 44HR (2nd), 94RBI (12th), 23SB (8th), 0.259avg, 0.972OPS (5th), 74walks (10th)
    21games start (115.1IP, 5.49ip/game), 9-2, 3.36ERA, 1.12WHIP, 136ks.
    Player WAR - 4.8
    Pitching WAR - 2.6
    Overall WAR- 7.4 (1st)

It is not easy to make the above look clean. Sorry guys lol.

It's a great debate. Great recap above. Hope Vlad continues and the playoff berth clinches it, but that betting odds have me worried.
