Considering their depth at catcher and OF, and the holes at other positions (3B/P), if this is their only move, this was not a good trade.

I agree. If this is it, I don't understand it. But maybe Grichuk gets moved for pitching and then Dickerson is an OF LH bat that can hit #6-ish and create another hard out for opposing batters to get through. He is a tough out typically and a big upgrade for DH over Tellez right now. Tellez is more power, but Dickerson makes way more sense in the lineup to me.

But ya that depth in OF, you don't acquire Dickerson with the plan to just DH him or play him and bench Springer, Gurriel, Grichuk, or Teoscar. Can Dickerson play 1B? lol. I think Gurriel can dabble at 1B though.

Good news is what the Jays gave up is likely nothing (Panik+Has to be outside top 30 prospect)

Sidearm thrower. Big GB guy with a rising FB, Sinker and Slider combo (sinker I've seen said used it equally as the others, but other sites showing he barely uses it).

I know the depth concerns but I love this deal. Another lefty bat to offset their lineup isn't a bad thing. And ya maybe Gurriel gets moved around a bit more. I don't mind more depth because we've already seen just how injury prone Springer can be.

Shapiro probably knows Cimber from Cleveland and they really need another middle reliever.

Well the Lefty thing is just improving your LH bat because Panik was also a lefty

The Vlad vs Ohtani MVP race is shaping up to be one for the ages. Great story on both sides. Will Vlad get an edge since the Jays are competitive? Might not matter if Ohtani keeps hitting and pitching.

    It's Ohtani by a mile.

He's pitching to an ERA lower than the top 2 paid SPs and in the HR race.

Most likely yep. But 2 weeks ago Vlad was white hot while Ohtani's bat had cooled so it looked like it could be a lot closer.

Vlad's only real chance is an Ohtani injury now.

Not impressed with the Jay's pitching of late. Is their staff better than this?
