I think if the accusation doesn't have any legs, the severity of the punishment the team and MLB itself isn't this high.

Alomar just put his own statement out, calling them accusations as well, so I am not sure what to believe, especially in today's social climate.

Ya his statement was pretty short and had un-needed info.

He never actually denied them. He just mentioned he wishes the allegations can be heard in a venue that will allow him to address them. Then he adds in this "I will continue to spend my time helping kids pursue their baseball dreams". I'm assuming that was a PR person trying to humanize Alomar.

Well the Jays are calling it an "allegation of sexual misconduct". So I guess in my head I'm thinking the incident is an "allegation" and Alomar didn't say, "The allegations are totally false" which is kinda what always happens in these scenarios.

Like people usually say it's false. He is saying he wants to address the allegations, but he hasn't said, "the allegations are false". In my head it's like someone saying he would like to address the allegations that say they are a robber, instead of saying, "I'm not a robber". Could be just my thinking on it though.

I do kinda understand the stance of "I'm going to address this in the courts because that's really all that matters" which like...ok? (As i shrug-ish). Like, that's a stance and not the stance I would have done or expected.

They did their own investigation. So the team has felt this yr the right move. So, in the minds of the Jays and the MLB he is guilty enough to not want him around. Who knows what happened, but whatever he did could have been "Not illegal" but still bad enough where it's not acceptable to the Jays or league.

This isn't cancel culture, but merely a consequence to actions that weren't acceptable. Remember, an independent law firm examined what happened and said it violated the league policy in some way. The female also isn't pressing charges or suing him to look for money, which I'm actually surprised at. She just wants him held accountable to whatever he did that violated the league (and likely the Jays) policy.

The allegations were brought up "earlier this yr" so the investigation definitely seems thorough and the fact it wasn't leaked at all until it happened is also pretty big. Jays and the League investigated, found the evidence and fired him legally. I'm sure Alomar and his team would have been also fighting for his side during the investigation process, so his "I'm hoping to say my side" seems that he just wanted to sway the publics image of him especially with the follow up comment about helping kids still.

So many players getting hurt makes me wonder if thats from a smaller spring training or the Jays training staff is terrible.
