Tampa might crush them, but, on paper, anyway, there's no reason Jays can't pull an upset here.
4-6 record in the season and majority of those games were decided by 1 run.
I honestly never heard the Ryu getting extra rest. Makes sense I guess.

TBR are Snell, Glasnow, Morton for their probable starters (at least that's what's posted here)

Buck and Dan talked about it in a game over the weekend (Friday or Saturday night can't remember which)...I think Shoemaker was slated to start that game but someone else started instead. Rumours are that Ryu wants extra rest (which apparently he has asked for already this season), and that Shoemaker may start game 1 and Ryu will start game 2.

I just saw this and came to say the same thing.

    Snell - Shoemaker
    Glasnow - Ryu
    Morton - Walker

A bit of a uphill climb...but anything can happen in a 3 game series.

The "extra rest" with Ryu asking for it apparently didn't happen.

But it's alright thinking to have Ryu go in the do-or-die game, or the series sealer.

Definitely going to be watching the games and cheering, but damn this season has been hard to follow/get excited for. Probably watched like 20-25 of the 60 games this season, and an even smaller amount from innings 1-9.

Was talking about it with my old teammates from back in the day and they all agreed too...just isn't the same kind of emotional investment this year. Not being able to go to the games, a lot of guys on the team being essentially castoffs from other teams aside from the core youth group. I couldn't even tell you who their 5 starters have been this season because of injuries/Montoyo's weird pitching management. I literally had to google who Caleb Joseph was when I saw that hype video.

The playoff "atmosphere" won't even really be the same for young guys because of the lack of crowd. Having been at a playoff game at the Dome you can't simulate that kind of electricity.

Anyway, Go Jays Go I guess LOL.

But it did happen. Otherwise, he would have pitched today (on regular rest).

OR...Hear me out...They decided to go with analytics that said he'd do better.

Dude, I even said a point maybe they're thinking. Have Ryu go in the do or die game, or in the series clincher. Like...Are you freaking Damien Cox or something? Come on man.

Seriously, Just because Ryu is pitching game 2, doesn't mean he specifically asked for it. And I know it's all rumour and hearsay, but to just say "No" like you do is just frustrating to read.

Snell last pitched Sept 22nd, does that mean he specifically asked for a week rest to skip his last start? Same with Glasnow (Sept23rd), he gets a week rest.

Here, go read. I was saying Ryu never asked specifically for the extra rest. I'm not arguing he is being given the extra rest.

I'm confused is there some history on this coming into play here? Lol maybe you're frustrated but I actually heard Dan and Buck say on the broadcast that he asked for extra rest earlier in the season too and he's typically performed well after an extra day's rest. Unless you're calling Dan and Buck liars I don't know. I don't get why the question of whether or not Ryu asked for extra day of rest is such a touchy subject haha.

They said that, but it came out afterwards Ryu did not actually ask for rest (which was the post he quoted and said essentially I was wrong because why would Ryu not be going game1 if he didn't ask to get rest)

Ok, well, we can all agree the extra day of rest indisputably happened.

As for the other part, I do find it odd that Buck & Dan would fabricate something like that and spread it on air, unless it did happen.
But it's possible they were speculating, I guess.
Didn't sound that way, but it's possible.
Or they misunderstood what was going on. Maybe the translator mistranslated something from Ryu and it wasn't discovered until after the last game. Who knows.

But it seems even more odd to me that the Jays would shelf their best starter (by far) for an extra day knowing the winner of Game 1 is an overwhelming favourite to win a 3 game set.
But whatever, there's no way to know.
If he's healthy, I would have started him.
Unless he asked me not to.
Interestingly, his numbers are actually better on regular rest, according to Tabby.

I do NOT agree with what they did with Shoemaker. Even if they had a plan that he'd go 3ip, you got to adjust it the way he was pitching and let him go longer

Other than the crappy start, Ray has been excellent. I do agree that Montoyo overthought it too much, again. I hate the way he deals with his pitching staff.
