What a day for the Jays!!!! I love all of the deals because they barely gave up anything and are all expiring contracts. Stripling and Ray are extreme buy lows since theyre having their worst seasons in a while.

Stripling is still under team control for a couple more years too, so if they can get him back on track then it's an even bigger win.
I have generally been critical of Atkins and most of his moves up to this point, but yesterday seems to be a good day for Jays management. All the guys brought in were basically "buy lows" with a nice opportunity for bouncing back. Or, some of the moves could blow up in their faces LOL! Thats why you make the moves and play the games. Either way, it's nice to see them rolling the dice on the playoffs and not ripping up their coveted minors system to do it.

Villar is for 2 PTBDL (I think it was for prospects in the "teens" rankings for the Jays).
All these moves are for rewarding a young team, kind of like the pick ups the Leafs did after that yr they got knocked out by the Caps. A "Wow, you guys are doing better than we expected this yr. And we've dealt with injuries. Ok lets get you some help with fluff moves that could end up being solid bring ins".
Not one move makes them a contender. But they show the younger squad the management crew is behind them. Notable when they can start looking at extending these young guys early in their controlled years.

Absolutely, that was terrific to see. He was one of my fave Jays back then.
I was so pumped when he made his brief comeback - although, admittedly it was a little like watching "Rocky Balboa" - mostly hopeful but a wee bit of pity for a fellow who just couldn't let go.
