Is there anyone else down there other than Chavez? Gibbons seems to enjoy going to him, and enjoy watching the bullpen blow games early on.

That's because they get get enough outs to get credit for their IP's. LOL!

Both Cecil and Chavez have got into three games (the most appearances) so far and the bullpen has credit for three loses at this point.

I find it interesting how people are pinning yesterday on the bullpen. Granted they haven't looked sharp but Stroman was the one who loaded the bases.

When the offense gives you a 5 run lead there's no excuse to walk 2 batters. You should be pounding the zone, which Stroman generally does. He just didn't have his command.

Up 7-2, three runner on base left by Stroman takes the score to 7-5. The Jays lost 8-7.

The bullpen is supposed to come in and help out, not sink it further. They aint getting it done early on.

Thanks for doing the math for me, but it's not that simple. Against a team like the Red Sox you have to keep them down and not give them a chance to shift the momentum back in their favour. Walking 2 batters when you're up 5 runs is unacceptable.

Plus it's not even like Chavez's pitch was that bad. It was down in the zone. Holt managed to go down and get it and get enough on it to clear the fence.

People are too simplistic with this stuff.

Props to Donaldson though...after that first at bat I was wondering why he was even in the game. He looked like he was in pain and limped from the batter's box to the dugout. Haven't seen the lineup for today yet but it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't in it with the short rest.

My point is simple though; the bullpen are there to help out the starters when they cant go the distance and also to close out games. So far this season, the Jays bullpen have been nothing short of disappointing. No way they should be losing those games.

The only reason Josh Thole is on this roster is to catch that knuckleball. If he cant catch the knuckleball, why is he even there? Dear god!

Thole was doing well, it was when Dickey threw it over his head things were bad. Dickey is done tho, the pick off play at 2B was the thing that got me, he looked like he was struggling to even throw it there and he went crazy wide.

It's only the first week of baseball, so cool the jets on the sky is falling. Jays are just missing hits (EE's yesterday, Donaldson double would be a HR if the bat didn't break), and the sloppy errors will work their way out (GOINS!!! GRR). And they are hitting it hard, it was just going at the players.

I never had any confidence in Dickey or Buehrle last year.

Hopefully Sanchez or Happ step it up this season, we need at least 3 solid pitchers to be competitive and go deep in the playoffs.

Estrada was the losing streak stopper all the time last yr. Dudes clutch.

After watching the replays of last night’s game, man did Estrada keep the Sox off balance. He’s going to be what the Jays wanted in Dickey when they traded for him a few yrs ago. A steady 200IP muncher who will consistently keep you in games. So hopefully we get to the playoffs and see him in high pressure games again, because he was so much fun to watch there.

JD doing JD things again (1st pitch HR, he did that 7 times last yr), and Osuna’s final 3 pitches vs the Panda…95, 96, 97. Storen found some extra zip to his pitches finally, and looked more comfortable.

When Travis comes back, I can see Tulo going DH more often too because Goins at SS, Travis at 2B, EE at 1B (Bautista said he’ll go 1B too this season), Tulo at DH. Gibbons will be using DH more liberally I think, or he at least should. Obviously could change with an injury (like Donaldson’s, but with EE making him locked in at DH).

Yeah that was a really encouraging start from Estrada fresh off his new contract. Absolutely dominant.

I want to see Tulo on the field whenever he can go aside from the odd maintenance day.
