Jays have interest in Baez as a super-util role. Baez is brother in law with Berrios and they do charitable work in the Dominican together. Now, the Jays having interest in an IF isn't news, but the IF market is drying up and it could be something the Jays try and squeeze a deal before the dec1 CBA deadline

Jsys have seen all three of their big FAs walk out the door. They brought in Gausman and signed a RP but other than that it's been quiet. They now have a hole at 2B and still a hole at 3B. I'm not as excited about Biggio as others. Lots of work to be done.

I'd love to bring in Ramirez but not if it means selling the farm, literally.

Baez on a short term deal would be nice. Super Util him as a 3rd baseman, or 2nd baseman (and SS to rest Bo) with Biggio in there and Espinal as well. Baez 1-2yr deal, pull a Semien, go into 2023/24 season as the No1 INF

Jays have Orelvis Martinez (44th overall prospect) and Jordan Groshans (2018 12th overall, 55th prospect) as their future SS/2B/3B guys. You really can't be forgetting them and filling holes with long deals without first dealing with Vlad, Bo, and Teoscar's contracts.

    ---EDIT---
Well, as I say this, Morosi tweeted out early this morning Baez and Tigers are close to signing a 6yr deal.

Jays top target is now Chris Taylor, and have had conversations with Kris Bryant.

I wouldn't mind Chris Taylor. Nice utility knife that shouldn't break the bank.

    Chris Taylor vs Kris Bryant:

    Bryant in 178 gp (2020-21)
    106r, 29HR, 84RBI, 10SB, 0.253avg, 0.796OPS

    Taylor in 204gp (2020-21)
    122r, 28HR, 105RBI, 16SB, 0.259avg, 0.798OPS

This includes Bryant's injury riddled 2020 season, but man they are a lot closer together than I thought. Taylor is 1yr older.

Kikuchi is drawing interest by the Mets and Jays.

Kikuchi had similar advanced stats to Ray before coming to the Jays but Ray is larger and I think his ability to hold up to gassing 100% of his pitches is better. But Kikuchi as a 1-2yr replacement to Matz and your SP4/5 is great.

Jays finalist in on Bryant as well. He's drawing interest from the Mariners too.

I'd have no issues with Kikuchi. He's a decent LHP with good stuff. Would be a better #5 option compared to Pearson and Stripling.

To beclear: JaysaresayingvaxrulescoveringNBAandNHL players hold true for MLB. Don't meet the feds definition of vaxxed? Can't play in Canada. Won't be paid for missed games. Owners informed by Manfred. Rules can change, but right now it's a factor in decision making.

Explains another negative towards Ray and wanting Gausman instead.

    Freddie Freeman!

Seriously though, I'd rather see them make one more big move towards pitching.
