It's interesting watching Manoah's starts so far this season. He, much like Pearson, seems to lack control of his fastball. It doesn't seem to be an issue in the minors (not that I've been able to watch his starts in the minors, more the highlights, as he's clearly dominant in AAA. Sure, it's AAA and the hitters aren't as good, but it's not the hitters issue when he's missing his mark with his fastball so many times. Maybe in the bigs he's trying too hard to be cute and "pitch" so to say by hitting the corners instead of just letting the ball and his stuff do the work for him. Either way, he's not quite there yet either but he's definitely closer to being ready than Pearson from what I've seen of both so far.

I did like the comment from Joe Siddal last night when he mentioned using Pearson in the bullpen for a bit. God knows they can use the help back there.

The at bat where Manoah "lost it" he threw 3 balls that were VERY close to the edge. Then after that he lost control over almost all pitches. Then he ended up striking someone out, then he found his control for the last 1 or 2 batters. But it was in the 5th inning so his night was done. I wonder if those 3 balls, if 1 was called a strike would Manoah have "lost it" at all. And they were balls, but I saw some strikes being called in the same spot as those balls. Also there was a very clear strike by Castro in the 6th that the ump called ball because McGuire couldn't frame it well enough for the ump. So, not like I've done the research, but the ump seemed pretty good with the zone, but not forgiving to a rookie pitcher especially when Lynn was pitching on the other side who just attacks the strike zone.

Manoah was a rookie pitcher last night who seemed he got flustered, but not intimidated especially when he was chirping Anderson. That I loved because he wasn't a dick about the chirping, and Anderson didn't seem upset by it.

I would love to see him in the pen. Who knows...we could have the next Hader on our hands.

But I much rather him be a starter lol.

Pearson is built like a starter, he's just changed his delivery and had a shoulder injury (the delivery change was to help prevent injuries I think). He's still an MLBer, just going through some new movement and hasn't found the zone.

Jays watch the pitcher for a while then change something. Robby Ray went through this with Pete Walker where they kind of take the slow approach with changing something. So I think Pearson is still a starter. But, I'm not opposed of them brining Pearson to the pen at the end of the yr kind of like what they did with Aaron Sanchez.

I agree, I want him as a starter as well but not until he can gain control of that fastball.

Jays outscored BSox 30-12 in the series without their 150mill man.

They know they have to if they want to win because they can't trust the bullpen to hold the close games. Lol

And they had the series sweep if Stripling stays in or Chatwood doesn't come out. Chatwood had 2 good IP in a row prior to the high leverage Bsox outing. That momentum is gone now. He needed to be given low leverage outings to get that momentum back going but now it's all gone.

Gahhhhhhhhhhh Im so sad I missed him in every league this year.

I did place a nice wager on him when he was 9/1 for the MVP though. Ohtani is slowing down too.

Dolis isn't a setup man since he's come back from the IL.

MLB will suspend players (with pay) for 10 games if they are caught with a foreign substance. I'm surprised that it's happening. Take a look at Cole, Bauer, Darvish, all of the Dodgers guys, and other pitchers across the league become human again.

For Jays pitchers, I think Chatwood has been pictured with pine tar/FS on his hat brim. So maybe he stopped using it recently and that's the reason his accuracy is no where to be found?
